Dolly Parton’s Sister Said No One in Nashville Has Reached Out to Her About Parton’s Death
Dolly Parton was a major figure in the Nashville music scene. She moved to the city after graduating from high school and built her career there. After her death, many country music stars have publicly mourned her. Still, her sister Stella said that nobody has reached out to her to offer their condolences.

After Parton’s death in August, she received an outpouring of tributes from countless public figures. Her sister Stella, who is also a country singer, said that nobody has reached out to her about it. She knows many of these people personally.
“I haven’t had one condolence from anyone, anybody that I know, entertainers that I know,” she told CBS News. “Nobody.”
Stella, who is outspoken about her political beliefs and frequently criticizes Donald Trump, believes this might be the reason why people haven’t contacted her.
“I’m assuming it might be because of my political, you know, activism on social media,” she said. “I don’t know.”

While Stella is vocal about her beliefs, Parton rarely ever discussed politics. Stella once publicly called her out for not speaking about the #MeToo Movement.
“I’m ashamed of my sister for keeping her mouth shut,” she said on the CountryLine “Our Stories” podcast. “She can run it when it is about something else, but speak up about injustice, Dolly Parton. Speak up. And speak out. Defend women, and don’t just do it in a little song. Speak up.”
Stella felt that older entertainers owed it to people to speak up about mistreatment in the industry.
“This is the first time I’ve really publicly called my sister out,” she said. “But it’s high time that some of these older women speak up and speak out. They’ve all gone through all kinds of abuse in this industry so: speak up!”
Why didn’t the singer talk about politics?
Parton said that while she addressed meaningful issues in her music, she didn’t want to discuss her political beliefs. She also felt that her behavior spoke for itself.
“In my songwriting, I’ve never shied away from what is going on in the world,” she wrote in her book Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics. “I don’t voice issues publicly, myself. But in my songs, I can write about whatever I feel. That’s what I’m about. I can say what I need to say without having to march in the streets or make big public statements. I express in my own way what I believe other people need to hear and might not be able to write about their feelings.”
While she distanced herself from politics, she involved herself in many charitable causes.
