If there was a modicum of doubt that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were preparing to exchange vows in New York City, it’s gone now. Donna Kelce has arrived, and she looks like she means business. The mother of the groom was spotted walking through the airport today, and while she didn’t speak to anyone, her movements following her arrival make it pretty clear that a Madison Square Garden wedding is absolutely going down.
Donna Kelce lands in New York City
Donna Kelce might be good at keeping a low profile, but in the lead up to her son’s wedding, there is no way for her to stay completely private. Especially not upon arrival in New York City. Donna was spotted at LaGuardia Airport in Queens on July 2. She arrived from her home state, and while she looked casual for a day of travel, her next stop was anything but casual.
According to TMZ, Donna was whisked away from the famed airport in an SUV, along with friends. She was taken directly to Madison Square Garden, where her driver disappeared into the arena’s underground parking. Several sources claim the SUV’s driver has worked for Swift in the past. Her movements after landing further fuel rumors that Swift and Kelce are hosting an intimate rehearsal dinner ahead of the actual wedding on July 3.
Madison Square Garden Transforms
Donna’s arrival comes amid days of visible preparation at the iconic Manhattan arena. Crews have reportedly been hauling in lighting rigs, staging equipment, towering drapes, gazebos, artificial trees, and mountains of catering supplies for much of the week. Large white tents have also gone up outside the Garden’s Infosys Theater, and passersby have spotted a new carpeted entrance along with what may be a disco ball inside.
Sources allege that the arena is hosting two different events for the iconic couple, the first being a rehearsal dinner set for July 2. The actual wedding, which is said to include 1,000 guests, is rumored to be set for July 3, though an official time for that event remains unknown. Streets around the arena will be closed to through traffic during the event, per a permit request filed last month.
Donna isn’t the only friend or family member spotted
Donna Kelce’s arrival on July 2 seems to be the final confirmation fans needed for the Madison Square Garden wedding, but she’s not the only arrival. She joins a growing list of family members and close friends converging on New York ahead of the rumored wedding. Travis was seen jogging through Tribeca in the days leading up to the event. It appears he flew in earlier in the week. Sabrina Carpenter was spotted in the city as well, and several of Travis’ teammates checked into a hotel not far from the arena in the days leading up to the event, too.
Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, haven’t been seen around town just yet, but it is assumed they will be on hand for the special event this evening. If rumors are correct, the rehearsal is underway as of 6PM.
