Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, made headlines when they relocated from the United States to the scenic countryside of the Cotswolds in late 2024. Their estate was initially the 43-acre “Kitesbridge Farm” purchased for about £15 million. And it featured a historic 18th-century farmhouse and underwent an extensive renovation in just 4.5 months with a 70-person team. Recently, DeGeneres gave a sneak peek into her new home, which she moved into after putting Kitesbridge Farm up for sale. Here’s a peek inside her new place.

After selling their initial Cotswolds estate within a year, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, found a new countryside retreat. Unlike the more rustic 18th-century farmhouse they initially purchased (and soon listed for sale), their current residence is described as a striking home built on a former farmyard and set on approximately 100 acres of land.

The house features ultra-large floor-to-ceiling windows framing the lush, rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Interior design elements include polished concrete or stone floors, natural wood finishes, and minimalist furnishings that give it a clean, airy feel. Crucially, the property offers the space and purpose needed for de Rossi’s equestrian interests.

DeGeneres recently gave fans a rare peek inside her and de Rossi’s sprawling countryside estate via an Instagram video. The former talk show host filmed their new puppy, Sport, joyfully darting around a bright, open-plan living space. Their older dog, Kid, followed his own quirky play style. The clip revealed a home abundant with natural light and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that frame lush green views of the English countryside. Inside, viewers could glimpse a sleek glass table adorned with books and candles. They could also see cream-colored dining chairs set around a long table, and wooden ceiling beams.

According to The U.S. Sun, a Mies van der Rohe Barcelona daybed and a Hans Wegner Flag Halyard Chair were also visible in the clip. The open floor plan revealed a huge dining table with a kitchen sink not far in the distance.

The talk show host previously said she would’ve loved to become an interior designer

Ellen DeGeneres’ sneak peek into her Cotswolds mansion reflects her home style philosophy: relaxed and accessible, yet elevated. In 2017, she launched her furniture and décor collection with Thomasville. She described the pieces as “design I want to share with everyone,” as she saw the furniture as both necessary and playful, according to Furniture Today.

In other interviews and features, DeGeneres has remarked that her décor process typically starts with a key piece, like a piece of furniture or lighting, and builds the space around it. According to The Twin Cities Buzz, DeGeneres would’ve become an interior designer if she hadn’t become a talk show host.

“It’s not that I get bored, I’m just so passionate about architecture and furniture, and you can only buy a certain type of furniture for a contemporary house or a midcentury house,” she explained.

Ellen DeGeneres has been refreshingly candid about her move to the Cotswolds with Portia de Rossi. During a public Q&A in Cheltenham, she confirmed that the re-election of Donald Trump was a pivotal factor. According to the BBC, she recounted that she and Portia had arrived in the UK the day before the election. They “woke up to lots of texts with crying emojis … and we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.’”

“It’s absolutely beautiful,” she said. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming, and it’s just a simpler way of life.”

“It’s clean,” DeGeneres continued. “Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”
