Evan Rachel Wood won’t return for Practical Magic 2. 

The actor, 37, took to Instagram on July 11 to address the upcoming sequel to the 1998 movie about sisters who come from a long line of witches.  

“I am getting asked about this a lot, so l’ll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the #PracticalMagic sequel,” she wrote, according to People

Wood added that should would have been happy to return for the next chapter of Owens family’s story. The Westworld star played Kylie Owens, the daughter of Sandra Bullock’s Sally Owens character, in Practical Magic

“l offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line.” she wrote. 

“I was told they are re-casting,” Wood continued. “I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.” 

‘Practical Magic 2’ is due out in September 2026 

Practical Magic 2 is currently in production and is due out in September 2026. While Wood won’t return, many of the original cast members are confirmed to reprise their roles, including Bullock and Kidman (who played Gillian Owens). Also returning are Dianne Wiest as Aunt Jet and Stockard Channing as Aunt Franny.

Joey King will play one of Sally’s two daughters, according to Deadline. (Alexandra Artrip played Kylie’s younger sister Antonia Owens in the original movie.) 

“There’s a little witch in all of us,” The Kissing Booth star wrote on Instagram after her casting was announced. 

The Practical Magic 2 cast also includes Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod.
