Ex-Prince Andrew Pleaded With Prince William for Forgiveness, Lip Reader Claims: ‘I’ve Learned From What I’ve Done’
Shortly before King Charles moved to formally strip him of his royal titles, Prince Andrew was desperately trying to get back in the good graces of the royal family, a lip-reading expert claims.
Lip-reader reveals what Andrew allegedly said to Prince William at Duchess of Kent’s funeral
In September 2025, the now-former Duke of York attended the Duchess of Kent’s funeral with other members of his extended family. It would be his last public appearance before a wave of new revelations about his relationship with financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein led to his ouster from his home, Royal Lodge, and his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
While mourning the late duchess, Andrew tried to persuade Prince William that he understood the damage his actions had done to the royal family, according to a preview of an upcoming episode of Lip-Reading the Royals: What Are They Really Saying?, which airs on Channel 5 in the U.K.
The prince – now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor – stood next to his nephew at the funeral at Westminster Cathedral. Footage from the event shows him speaking to Prince William, who does not appear to respond to his uncle.
Now, a lip-reader has revealed what Andrew allegedly said to William.
“I’ve learned from what I’ve done,” the disgraced royal says, according to the lip-reader’s interpretation (via Metro). “But before I forget, I’d like to ask you if you can forgive?”
Prince William wants disgraced royal ‘dealt with now’
Andrew might be seeking forgiveness from the monarch-to-be, but if royal insider reports are correct, he’s unlikely to get it. William reportedly believes that Andrew is a massive liability and that it would be better for the core royals to distance themselves from him.
“William wants it all cleaned out before he gets [on the throne],” royal biographer Andrew Lownie recently told People. “He wants it dealt with now.”
The Prince of Wales’ issues with his uncle are not new, Russell Myers, royal editor of the Daily Mirror and author of the new book William and Catherine, told Fox News Digital.
“William thought his uncle was always a bit of an ignoramus,” Myers said.
“He had a real issue with the way that Andrew treated his staff,” he continued. “He didn’t like his attitude of entitlement and privilege. This is very alien to both William and Catherine.”
The prince’s already-poor opinion of Andrew fell further following the Duke of York’s catastrophic 2019 interview with the BBC’s Emily Maitlis.
“After that disastrous 2019 interview Andrew gave to the BBC’s Newsnight, in which he failed to apologize for his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein … William had the foresight to say, ‘This man must not have any place within the institution, any place within the family,” Myers said. “He must be banished because he got himself into this mess, and he must be banished before the rot sets in.”
