Fantasia Barrino’s love life is in the spotlight in 2026. Her husband, Kendall Taylor, presented her with an 11-carat diamond ring during a concert as a re-proposal for Valentine’s Day. In response, Fantasia’s father, Joseph Barrino, took to Facebook and livestreams to criticize the gesture and level allegations against Taylor. Joseph called the proposal fake and suggested that Taylor had involvement in missing money linked to Fantasia’s financial team. He urged followers to “pray for” his daughter.

After Fantasia’s response, Taylor himself is speaking out. He took to social media to clear his name against the accusations.

“When I met my wife, I was owning my own multimillion-dollar company, period,” he stated, according to clips posted by Baller Alert. “That means her success, her career, didn’t build me, didn’t shape me.”

Taylor went on to explain how he attended the Sunoco Leadership Academy, BMW Black Belt Training, Tuck School of Business, Small Business Accelerator, and the CMETI Business Initiative. He found “a lot of success” through his training. “I’m grateful for those things because I am a justice-impacted individual, and I had to overcome tremendous adversity and circumstances in order to break a lot of criminogenic mindsets and trauma and behavior that were keeping me living at a lower level than what I was capable of,” he continued.

“I hope she doesn’t get upset with this, but I’m going to speak the truth. I asked for the prenup,” Taylor noted. “A prenup wasn’t put on me. I asked for it because I had business partners that I needed to protect, and I needed to make sure her family knew that I had no intentions of coming after anything that she had established before she met me. I wanted to create a runway where we could just experience love with each other and figure out what this unnatural, natural feeling was that we were exploring.”

According to Taylor, Fantasia’s father didn’t “show up” to their wedding. Joseph also allegedly didn’t “speak” to him at the event.

The ‘American Idol’ alum called her father a ‘donor’ on Instagram

Fantasia Barrino called out her father for the accusations made against her husband, Kendall Taylor. According to Essence, she posted screenshots from Joseph Barrino’s 2024 arrest.

“I wasn’t going to do this, but this has gotten out of hand,” the American Idol winner captioned an Instagram post. “I cant even call you Dad or a Father, you are a DONOR!!!”

“We have covered for you long enough,” she continued. “My mom and me have made you LOOK like you were and [sic] okay man but NOW YOU HAVE COME FOR MY KING!!! Tonight I will go Live and behind me will stand all who know YOU!!!! How can someone steal if I Fantasia Taylor is the CEO and my king Kendall Taylor is the president of ALL OUR COMPANIES.”

After deleting the post, she added another video to her Instagram of the sweet proposal moment onstage. “You took my moment but I’m taking it BACK!!!” she captioned the post.
