At 76, rock legend Gene Simmons, longtime frontman of KISS, has once again seized the spotlight, this time not just for his musical legacy, but for his crusade for fairness in the music industry. In December 2025, Simmons was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors. Many viewed this milestone as a full-circle moment for a career that helped shape modern rock. Immediately following the accolade, he turned his attention to activism. He passionately testified before Congress in support of the American Music Fairness Act. KISS frontman Gene Simmons is making waves — and this time, it’s for his flirtatious behavior toward a news anchor. On Dec. 8, 2025, Scripps News anchor Maritsa Georgiou interviewed Simmons about KISS’s recognition at the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors. The legend also discussed his support of the American Music Fairness Act. The legislation would require radio corporations to pay musicians to play their music on the air.

After 10 minutes and at the end of the interview, Simmons went on to ask Georgiou, “By the way, are you still modeling?”

“What?” the anchor responded after a few seconds of silence, surprised by the question.

“Are you still modeling?” Simmons repeated.

“Modeling? I don’t model, sir,” Georgiou responded.

“Oh, I assumed,” Simmons added.

“Well, I appreciate that,” Georgiou laughed before thanking Simmons for his time and ending the interview.

The awkward moment certainly gave the news anchor something to laugh about later!
