George and Amal Clooney Don’t Have a ‘Deeply Passionate’ Relationship, Body Language Expert Claims
George Clooney put on an awards-worthy performance at the 2025 Tony Awards on Sunday night, a celebrity body language expert says.
Clooney walked the red carpet at the June 8 ceremony with his wife Amal Clooney. The Oscar-winning actor was nominated in the best actor in a play category for his role in Good Night, and Good Luck. (Cole Escola of Oh, Mary! ended up taking home the big prize.) But even though the Clooneys were all smiles as they posed for photographers, there were signs that beneath the glamorous surface, the couple was all business.

The Clooneys kept their distance from each other ahead of the ceremony, celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman told Casino.ca.
“There was a noticeable gap between George and wife Amal – even when George’s arm was around Amal’s waist,” she said. “Their hips didn’t meet, nor did their shoulders, which suggests that their relationship is more intellectual and companionate than passionate,”
Rather than being absorbed in each other, the A-list star and his lawyer wife focused their attention outward.
“George and Amal consistently looked in the same direction while photos were being taken. Though these gazes were likely guided by photographers, the synchronicity suggests shared goals and a willingness to present a united front,” Honigman said.

George and Amal said “I do” in 2014 and share twin daughters, who were born in 2017. But even though they are a decade into their marriage, Amal still isn’t entirely comfortable in the spotlight, Honigman says.
“When left alone momentarily, Amal displayed signs of discomfort,” she pointed out. “Her shoulders rolled forward in a protective gesture, revealing how uneasy she felt on the maroon carpet without George at her side. This suggests Amal is not seeking the spotlight for herself and is there primarily in support of her husband.”
The dynamic between the Clooneys suggested they have a strong, caring relationship. But it’s not necessarily one that features a lot of romance, Honigman said.
“Their subtle display in front of the cameras reflects a strong bond,” she claimed. “However, it does not convey the signs of a deeply passionate or romantic relationship.”
Whatever their body language was saying, on Sunday night, the E.R. star had nothing but praise for his wife, who is known for her work as a human rights activist.
“I have this incredible partner who I couldn’t be more proud of,” he told E! News. “She’s the bravest human being I’ve ever met in my life. I am deeply proud of her and the fact that she’s in any way proud of me, if just, I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
