One Golden Bachelor contestant is no stranger to reality TV.

Debbie Siebers is one of 23 women set to appear on season 2 of the senior-focused Bachelor spinoff. The 65-year-old fitness professional from Denver likely hopes her active lifestyle charms 66-year-old bachelor Mel Owens, a former NFL star turned lawyer.

“One of my proudest accomplishments is my fitness program,” she says in a teaser for the new season. “One of the longest-selling infomercials in history.”

Debbie Siebers was a trainer on ‘The Swan’

Debbie’s not just tooting her own horn. A personal trainer and fitness expert, she created “The Great Body Collection” and the “Slim In 6” program for Beachbody. (The latter is still available on the Beachbody website.) She’s also appeared as an expert on numerous TV shows, including Fit TV’s Fitting It In, Discovery Health Channel’s National Body Challenge, and Travel Channel’s Swimsuit Slim Down. She also appeared as a celebrity trainer on one of the most infamous reality shows of all time: The Swan

In 2004, Fox made waves when it launched the makeover series that promised to turn “ugly ducklings” into beautiful swans. The Swan contestants spent three months working with a personal trainer, therapist, dentist, and cosmetic surgeons (one was future Botched star Dr. Terry Dubrow) to completely transform their appearance. The women then participated in a beauty pageant, with the one deemed most attractive winning the title of The Swan. While the show was popular with viewers during its short-lived run, it was also condemned by many. One critic called it “the most sadistic reality series of the decade.”

Will Debbie charm Mel Owens on ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Season 2?

Will Debbie’s fitness bona fides capture the attention of Mel when she enters the Bachelor Mansion later this month? It’s possible. In a controversial interview with the In The Trenches podcast, he said he was looking for a woman who took care of herself.

“They gotta be fit because I stay in shape,” he said of what he wanted to see from the women in his season. “And I told [producers], ‘Try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs, that kind of stuff.’”

He also said he hoped to meet “someone who’s a lifetime learner.”

“Someone who enjoys life and to work out and stay fit,” he said. “And eat and have fun and be energetic and live life.”

In the same interview, the new Golden Bachelor star also said he wasn’t interested in dating women older than 60. After widespread outcry, he walked back those comments.

The Golden Bachelor Season 2 premieres Wednesday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Episodes stream the next day on Hulu.
