VegasInsider.com analyzed over 75 dresses worn by actresses on the night they won a Golden Globe in the past. The analysis showed which brands/designers and colors bring the most luck to the nominees. More specifically, they collected data about the dresses worn by the actresses who won a Golden Globe in one of the three film categories from 2000–2025.

According to the analysis, 95.77% of actresses wore a dress when they won a Golden Globe. Only 4.23% of the winning actresses wore a pantsuit, blazer, or another outfit.

So, what’s the luckiest color? According to the analysis, 35.5% of the winning actresses wore black. White was the second-most popular color, accounting for 15.1% of the actresses. Silver and blue tied for third place with 10.8% of winners. Red came in fifth place with only 6.5%.

Additionally, 69% of the actresses wore a dress that contained only one color. Meanwhile, 31% of winning actresses wore dresses containing more than one color.

The winning actresses often wore dresses created by these top fashion designers

According to the analysis from VegasInsider.com, Golden Globe-winning actresses typically wore Armani on the night they won their award. This makes the designer the “luckiest” of them all.

Julia Roberts (2001, won for Erin Brockovich), Meryl Streep (2003, won for Adaptation.), Cate Blanchett (2014, won for Blue Jasmine), Isabelle Huppert (2017, won for Elle), Glenn Close (2019, won for The Wife), Renée Zellweger (2020, won for Judy), Michelle Yeoh (2023, won for Everything Everywhere All At Once), and Demi Moore (2025, won for The Substance), all reportedly wore Armani to the Golden Globes.

Dior and Yves Saint Lauren are considered the second “luckiest” brands. Five actresses won Golden Globes while wearing these designers.

Versace and Valentino each have had four winning actresses wear their designs on Golden Globe night. Chanel and Calvin Klein had three. And only two winning actresses wore Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera.

Many Golden Globe-winning actresses haven’t worn neck jewelry

Movie stars often aren’t shy about showing off their bling, and the Golden Globes seem like the perfect opportunity to wear their best jewelry. However, according to the analysis from VegasInsider.com, superstitious actresses may want to leave the necklaces at home. The analysis shows that only 23.2% of Golden Globe-winning actresses wore neck jewelry on the night of their win.

Will black be another big color in 2026? And will Armani still be the top designer for the winners? Fans will have to stay tuned.
