History Channel Thaws Out ‘Ice Road Truckers’ for a New Season, and Fans Are Thrilled
The History Channel is reviving one of its best-known reality series. Ice Road Truckers is returning to TV after a lengthy hiatus, the network announced Wednesday.

Ice Road Truckers Season 12 premieres Wednesday, October 1. The new season once again profiles the highly skilled truckers who are racing against time to deliver essentials to people cut off from the rest of the world during the brutal winter. They’ll battle dangerous roads, deadly frostbite, and brutal condition as they ferry food, building materials, and other life-saving supplies to remote communities.
“There’s no margin for error,” one man says in the season 12 teaser. “It’s life or death up here.”
Some familiar faces will be back in the new episodes, including Todd Dewey and Lisa Kelly. Viewers will also meet rookies who are determined to prove they have what it takes to master the ice road. With a winter window shorter than ever and no time to waste, these drivers risk everything to haul in a lifeline of goods while chasing big paydays before the opportunity melts away.
Ice Road Truckers premiered in 2007. New episodes last aired in 2017.
“The timing couldn’t be better to bring back a beloved series that once resonated with our viewers for over a decade,” said Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for The History Channel. “We’re pleased to have this new season of Ice Road Truckers be a co-production with our Canadian partners at Corus Entertainment as this season ventures into a new era of storytelling for the series that infuses fresh energy and new challenges while honoring its rich legacy.”
Fans eager for new episodes of ‘Ice Road Truckers’
While it has been several years since new episodes of Ice Road Truckers have aired, the show still has loyal fans. On Facebook, many people celebrated the news of a new season of the gritty reality series.
“About time,” one person commented.
“Omg!!!! So excited!” another wrote.
Others noted that the show had inspired their career choices.
“I remember watching the very first episode of this tv show when I was kid,” one wrote. “Now almost 20 yrs later I’m a truck driver.”
