Hulk Hogan’s widow Sky Daily is in mourning following the sudden death of her husband. 

“I wasn’t ready for this…and my heart is in pieces,” she wrote on Instagram on July 25, one day after Hogan’s sudden death at age 71. The controversial pro wrestling icon – whose real named was Terry Bollea – died Thursday in Clearwater, Florida, after experiencing cardiac arrest.

Hogan’s death came as a shock to his wife. 

“He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time,” she wrote. In 2024, Hogan told Jake Paul that he’d had 25 surgeries in the past 10 years.

“This loss is sudden and impossible to process. To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart,” she continued. 

Sky, who married Hogan in 2023, said that despite his “growing physical discomfort,” the WWE superstar did all he could to “show up, sign autographs, take photos, and connect with the people who supported him through it all. You meant everything to him.”

She added that she took comfort in the knowledge that Hogan “was a believer in Christ” and her belief that “his soul is at peace and he’s been welcomed home.”

“Please keep his family and all of us who loved him in your prayers as we try to navigate this new reality,” she added.

Hulk Hogan was ‘so positive’ just before his death, friend says 

Hogan’s sudden death also came as a shock to his long-time friend and former Jimmy Hart.  

“I called [Hogan] on Wednesday night, and then Thursday morning is when everything took place,” Hart told People. “So just…just overnight it all happened, but it was so positive the day before.”

Hart did not speak to his friend on Wednesday night. But Hogan’s assistant told him that the retired wrestler was “doing great.” 

He also recalled the last time her saw Hogan before his death. About a month ago, he spent an evening with Hogan and his son Nick Hogan at the family’s bar, Hogan’s Hangout, in Clearwater. 

“He was great,” Hart recalled. “He had great food to eat that night. He was talking with the fans. He was just phenomenal.”

“It just hits so fast,” he added. “It was like, ‘Oh my God.’ We thought he was doing so well, you know?”

In addition to Sky, Hogan is survived by two children form his marriage to Linda Hogan, Nick and Brooke. 

Brooke – who has been estranged from her father since 2023 – has not commented directly on her father’s death. But her friend Ashley Kora shared a message on her behalf.

“My dear sweet friend @mizzhogan lost her father today,” Ashley wrote on her Instagram Story on July 24 (via E! News). “He died knowing what I know, Brooke loved him deeply, was fiercely loyal and only ever want him to be peaceful, happy, and surrounded by people who valued him for who he really was.”

“He chose differently for himself,” she continued. “But we can still remember him as a doting father to a little girl with big dreams and a bigger heart. The world lost a legend, we lost Mr. Bollea, Brooke’s dad.”
