Is ‘Chicago Fire’ New Tonight? The NBC Drama Is On Break Until 2026
Bad news for ChiHards. If you’re looking for new episodes of your favorite Windy City-set dramas this Wednesday, you’re out of luck. Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med are all on break until early next year.
Is ‘Chicago Fire’ new tonight, November 19?

No, a new episode of Chicago Fire will not air on NBC on Wednesday November 19.
New Chicago Fire episodes will also not air on:
- November 26
- December 3
- December 10
- December 17
- December 24
- December 31
Sister shows Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med will also not air new episodes on those dates.
Chicago Fire Season 14, Chicago P.D. Season 13, and Chicago Med Season 11 all resume with new episodes beginning Wednesday, January 7, 2026. As usual, all new episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
What happened in the ‘Chicago Fire’ midseason finale?
The Chicago Fire midseason finale ended on multiple cliffhangers. In “Pierce the Veil,” Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Tom Van Meter’s (Tim Hopper) investigation of a fire at a local school led them to believe someone was deliberately targeting the principal, Mr. Cole. As the pair visited Cole’s apartment, a fire broke out in the stairwell, and a mysterious individual fled the scene as Severide and Van Meter were trapped inside.
Meanwhile, Firehouse 51 newbie Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente) was distressed after his dad’s parole hearing. Violet (Hanako Greensmith) invited him out for a drink, and when we last saw the pair, they were closing down Molly’s and planning to head to another bar. Finally Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) got word about planned CFD budget cuts, which could mean some painful decisions are on the horizon at 51.
Why are the One Chicago shows taking a break?
Chicago Fire’s brief hiatus might be frustrating for fans, but it’s not surprising. With the holidays approaching, NBC has moved the Dick Wolf dramas off the schedule temporarily to make room for seasonal programming.
What’s airing in place of the One Chicago shows? Here are the highlights:
- November 19: A special presentation of Wicked (8 p.m. ET/PT), ahead of the release of the sequel Wicked: For Good in theaters on November 21.
- November 26: Countdown to the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (8 p.m. ET/PT), followed by A Saturday Night Live Thanksgiving (9 p.m. ET/PT).
- December 3: Christmas in Rockefeller Center (8 p.m. ET/PT) and Christmas in Nashville (10 p.m. ET/PT).
- December 17: Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular (9 p.m. ET/PT).
- December 24: It’s a Wonderful Life (8 p.m. ET/PT) and Christmas Eve Mass (11:30 p.m. ET/PT).
One holiday special will not air as planned this year. NBC has expected to broadcast Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve on December 31. But that has been canceled, Deadline reports. It’s not clear what the network will air in its place.
