Is Christina Applegate in the Hospital?
Christina Applegate has been refreshingly honest about her health struggles over the years. She’s shared plenty about her breast cancer diagnosis and then, later, her multiple sclerosis battle in her memoir and on her podcast. This time around, though, it looks like she’s trying to keep things a bit quiet. Yesterday, reports began circulating that Christina Applegate has been hospitalized for weeks. Her rep refuses to confirm or deny that news. It wouldn’t be a first hospitalization for the starlet, though.
Christina Applegate’s rep will not confirm or deny her rumored hospitalization
Earlier this week, TMZ reported that Christina Applegate has been hospitalized for weeks. The outlet claims a source close to the situation revealed that the Dead to Me star has been in a Los Angeles hospital since late March, and it looked like the stay would be longer. The source did not share why the star had been hospitalized or what her prognosis might be. The alleged medical scare comes just as Applegate and her co-host, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, paused their podcast. It also comes after Applegate revealed she had been rather ill in February from a viral infection.
While Christina Applegate hasn’t spoken personally about the hospitalization, a rep for the star has spoken out. USA Today reached out to her rep, Ame Vanlden, who opted not to confirm or deny the news of a hospitalization. Vanlden merely stated that Applegate has always been open about her complex medical issues. Applegate last posted to Instagram on April 2. The post did not indicate anything was wrong.
What health conditions does she have?
Christina Applegate has battled several complicated medical conditions over the years. In 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Later, the actor revealed she had tested positive for the BRCA2 mutation, which significantly increases a person’s risk of developing certain cancers, including breast cancer. Applegate opted for a double mastectomy to treat the disease. She had no evidence of disease following treatment.
Applegate bounced back following her cancer diagnosis and continued to act, but in 2021, she revealed she likely would be hanging up her on-screen acting shoes soon due to a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. The diagnosis came in 2021. Applegate opened up about the illness in 2023 during an interview with Good Morning America, during which she revealed she likely had symptoms of the disease for more than 5 years before she sought answers.
Applegate has switched her career to podcasting and writing, though she has been open about the difficulty of MS and the medical complications it has brought to her life and career. She’s been hospitalized multiple times due to complications, most recently in August of 2025. A kidney infection led to that hospitalization.
Despite being open and honest about her medical issues, Applegate is staying quiet this time around, which is deeply concerning to fans. This is a developing story.
