Jake Paul’s Body Language Analyzed After Gervonta Davis Fight Canceled
Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis are two of boxing’s most talked-about stars. Paul, the YouTuber-turned-fighter, has carved out a lucrative niche by challenging seasoned boxers and stirring up headlines. Davis, a world champion backed by Floyd Mayweather, has a reputation for explosive power and dominant performances in the ring. The two boxers planned to square off in a highly publicized exhibition on Nov. 14, 2025. However, the bout abruptly faced cancellation. Here’s what a body language expert said about Paul’s body language after the cancellation.
Jake Paul doesn’t want to ‘undermine’ his ‘star status,’ according to a body language expert
Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis’ highly anticipated fight was abruptly canceled, sending shockwaves through the boxing world and beyond. The bout, which was set to stream live on Netflix, was called off after serious allegations surfaced against Davis. These accusations made by his ex-girlfriend included battery and false imprisonment. The controversy prompted promoters to cancel the event just days before it was scheduled, leaving fans frustrated and Paul searching for a new opponent.
Body language analyst Joanne Pearson from British Lie Detector Test described how Paul’s body language shows he hopes to control his image.
“When you watch Jake Paul’s ring-walk posture — chest open, immediate eye contact, arms raised, head held high — you see the hallmarks of a star who knows their audience, their platform and their power,” Pearson explained. “And the fact that he and his team pulled out of the scheduled fight with Gervonta Davis underlines that awareness: He is deliberately avoiding association with behavior or personas that would undermine that star status.”
Pearson added that Paul completely understands his brand. And walking away from a fight is now a part of it.
“This is a star who understands that in today’s boxing-plus-entertainment ecosystem, your opponent is part of your brand, your walk-out is your brand, your media engagement is your brand,” she continued. “He’s showing ambition like a true icon.”
A PR expert also commented on Jake Paul’s ‘strategic brand preservation’
Sophie Rhone, founder of Manchester-based PR agency Cupid PR, also offered thoughts about Jake Paul pulling out of the Gervonta Davis fight.
“Jake and his brother Logan have become two of the most successful entrepreneurs of our era,” Rhone noted. “Their PR strategy is consistently sharp. Every fight, every social moment, every product drop is orchestrated. The recent decision to pull out of the Davis fight? That was strategic brand preservation at work.”
Rhone added that Paul’s team evaluated how the public would receive the fight.
“Their team didn’t just react — they acted,” she continued. “They evaluated: Is this fight going to build the brand or erode it? Associating with an opponent facing serious allegations? That risk isn’t just reputational –it’s commercial.”
Rhone noted that both Logan and Jake Paul have “mastered” turning bouts into “media events” to enhance their brand.
The boxer ripped into Gervonta Davis online
Jake Paul posted about Gervonta Davis on X, clarifying where he stands. In the viral post, Paul calls Davis a “woman abuser,” and he notes that he doesn’t want any association with the fighter.
“Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage,” Paul posted. “Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit.”
“I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account,” Paul continued. “My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved.”
