Jay Electronica Claims He Lived With Diddy But ‘Never Showed Up’ in Court Docs in New Song
Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 3, 2025, after being convicted earlier in July of two counts of “transportation to engage in prostitution.” Though he was acquitted of the more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, he still faces a maximum of 10 years in prison per count on the prostitution-related charges. Most recently, rapper and record producer Jay Electronica claimed to have lived with Combs in a newly released track. Here’s what he stated.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs speaks on the intro of Jay Electronica’s song, ‘Abracadabra’
Jay Electronica’s surprise project, A Written Testimony: Leaflets, dropped on his 49th birthday. The sharp set of seven songs deepens his ongoing mix of mysticism, conspiracy, and lyrical bravado. From the opening intro delivered by Sean “Diddy” Combs to tracks like “Abracadabra” and “Four Billion, Four Hundred Million (4,400,000,000) / The Worst Is Yet To Come,” Electronica tackles everything from UFOs and climate skepticism to his place in the rap pantheon.
The album also weaves in familiar elements from his past work. He uses audio clips rooted in religious belief, obscure samples, and unexpected soundscapes. As for Combs’ role, he speaks at the beginning of “Abracadabra,” the first track on the album. This marks the hip-hop mogul’s first huge music appearance since his arrest.
“Hip-hop is in a very, very dangerous place, you know,” Combs tells Jay Electronica on the intro. “Give them that s***, you know what I’m saying? Live at their souls, lift up their vibration. That’s what God sent you here to do, you know? That’s why we wait so long. We wait for things that are good, ’cause good things come to those who wait. Great things come to those who wait.”
Jay Electronica claims he lived with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs but didn’t appear in court documents
Jay Electronica makes a bold claim about living with Sean “Diddy” Combs on his track, “Four Billion, Four Hundred Million 4,400,000,000 / The Worst Is Yet To Come.”
“I was living with Puff and cash and never showed up in the affidavit,” Jay raps. “I’m a smoother criminal than Michael Jackson, maybe.”
It’s unclear if Jay ever actually lived with Combs. However, the two hip-hop stars once had a close relationship. According to Complex, their relationship deteriorated when Jay chose to sign with Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation, instead of Combs’ label, Bad Boy Records.
In November 2010, Jay Electronica officially joined Roc Nation. Before that, his mixtape, Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), and the underground hit, “Exhibit C,” had already established him as a lyricist of rare depth. The signing came after a bidding war among labels vying for his signature, which turned the evolution of his craft into a spotlight moment. At a Roc Nation launch event filled with spectacle, Jay-Z publicly introduced him as a kind of wizard in hip-hop.
The rapper supported the hip-hop mogul by appearing outside the courthouse during the trial
In early July 2025, Jay Electronica was seen outside the Manhattan courthouse, casually walking his two Great Danes, in a moment captured by TMZ, among throngs of media and supporters gathered. He was there specifically to support Sean “Diddy” Combs, whose trial had resulted in convictions on less-severe charges. While Jay didn’t make grand pronouncements on that day, his presence spoke volumes. He blended into the surroundings, but made it clear that he stood with Combs.
Given Jay’s inclusion of Combs on his new album, it’s assumed that he’s remaining supportive as Combs faces sentencing.
