Joseph Duggar is facing more charges after being arrested earlier this week on suspicion of child sexual abuse stemming from a 2020 incident involving a 9-year-old girl in Panama City Beach, Florida.

On Friday, Duggar, 31, was charged with four counts of imprisonment in the second degree and four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree. The new charges are unrelated to sex abuse charges, for which he is awaiting extradition to Florida.

Duggar’s wife, Kendra Duggar, 27, was also arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail in Arkansas on March 20, according to online records. Like her husband, she is charged with four counts of imprisonment in the second degree and four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree.

Tontitown Police told KNWA that they launched the investigation that led to the charges against the couple after they began looking into the Florida case. Officers first attempted to arrest Kendra at the Duggar family compound – seen often on the family’s now-canceled TLC show 19 Kids and Counting – but she was not home at the time. It’s unclear where she was taken into custody.

Police said the investigation into the new charges is ongoing, but that because the case involves minor victims, no further details will be released at this time.

Kendra and Joseph married in 2017 and share at least three children.
