Kanye West was spotted doing something unusual; he was smiling, and so was his wife. The organic moment is noteworthy.

Kanye West has been in the spotlight for decades. While he has gone through many different iterations and personas in those years, he has absolutely always been stone-faced. The controversial rapper once explained that his icy expression is a conscious decision he made after noting how striking people looked in old photographs, specifically because they opted not to smile. While the man rarely slips and smiles, he must have been caught off guard this weekend.
TMZ photographed Kanye and Bianca in Amsterdam. The duo was seen heading for dinner at Ciel Bleu, an upscale seafood eatery. In the snapshots, the pair looks utterly relaxed and happy together. They were even captured flashing their pearly whites at each other. The relaxed demeanor is a marked deviation from their traditional public looks, and we can’t help but wonder what has the perpetually serious Kanye looking so happy.
His Smiles Are Often Caught in Moments Where He Thinks No One Is Watching
While Kanye West’s giant grin is newsworthy, it’s not the first time he’s been photographed smiling. Despite the reputation, moments of pure joy have been captured over the years. In 2019, West famously smirked while attending the Met Gala. In the candidly captured moment, Kanye was caught grinning at someone outside of the camera’s view. The grin was fleeting, and we never learned why he was suddenly so happy, but the moment went viral regardless.
In 2015, he was spotted looking happy and relaxed during the NBA Finals. West, a basketball fan, appeared to be genuinely enjoying himself until he realized people were watching. As soon as he recognized that he’d been singled out, his steely gaze returned.
When Kanye smiles, it’s usually brief, often accidental, and always newsworthy. So, we have a feeling that, at the very least, things are going well between Kanye and Bianca.
