Now, we’re looking back at the time West revealed the moment he knew Kardashian was “the one,” and it hits differently after his Paris Hilton rant.

Kanye ‘Ye’ West once revealed when he knew Kim Kardashian was ‘the one’

Long before they became one of the most discussed couples in the celebrity world, Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West shared a friendship rooted in mutual admiration and creative connection. Their bond deepened slowly over the years, with their romance beginning in 2012. As they navigated fame, fashion, and family life together, their love story unfolded in the spotlight.

Unfortunately, the couple’s marriage fell apart. Kardashian wanted West to receive help for his bipolar disorder. Additionally, she couldn’t stand by his constant chaos and controversies. They agreed on joint custody of their children when they split. However, in 2025, their once-amicable separation took a turn after West condemned Kardashian for allegedly keeping their four children from him.

Now, we’re looking back at when West and Kardashian were in love. In 2019, they appeared in a video for Vogue where the interviewer asked them questions about each other.

“How did you know that Kanye was the one?” the interviewer asked Kardashian.

“I knew he was the one when I went to his Paris fashion show,” Kardashian answered.

“And, Kanye, how did you know that Kim was the one?” the interviewer asked West.

“I saw her in a paparazzi pic with Paris Hilton,” he answered, which was met with Kardashian’s laughter.

Before Kardashian’s fame, she was known as Hilton’s assistant and frequent companion on the red carpet. In the early 2000s, Kardashian was often seen organizing Hilton’s closets, tagging along to parties, and appearing in the background of tabloid shots. Ultimately, Hilton gave Kardashian a place to launch from.

Kanye “Ye” West once mentioned how he fell in love with Kim Kardashian after seeing her with Paris Hilton. Oddly enough, West seemed to change his tune in April 2025. S.s.Alberto shared a video of West saying he wished he had kids with Hilton instead of Kardashian.

“When Kim was Paris Hilton’s assistant, I should’ve had babies with Paris Hilton over Kim Kardashian,” West said in the clip. “Could you imagine if I had kids with Paris Hilton, how many hotels I have now? You got to think about that. Think about that. The Hilton. The Hilton s***. It was like, I think I was staying in the Hilton right now. The f***ing edition hotels is a Hilton. You know what I’m saying? [sic].”

West added that he had children with an “assistant” he later “put on Vogue.”

A source once alleged that Paris Hilton was ‘jealous’ of the assistant-turned-reality star

Kim Kardashian and her family became ultra-successful, and she can thank Paris Hilton for helping her get her start. Well before Kanye “Ye” West was in the picture, a source alleged that Hilton was once “jealous” of Kardashian in 2010.

The source told Us Weekly in 2010 that Kardashian flew into Las Vegas on a private jet to head to an event at the hotspot Lavo. “She could not believe Kim got a jet and she didn’t,” the source said. “She used to get the jets. … Paris is upset at Kim — but it’s 100% jealousy. Kim is not only doing what Paris did, she’s doing it better, and everyone loves her.”

Fifteen years later, and there’s no doubt that Kardashian and Hilton are over their suspected beef. And we imagine Hilton would side with Kardashian over West, given his derogatory comments.
