Kanye ‘Ye’ West Slams Piers Morgan as ‘Idiotic’ in Heated Clash Over X Follower Count
In 2025, Kanye “Ye” West continues to stir controversy with his unfiltered and often polarizing posts on X. From cryptic rants to fiery takedowns of public figures, West’s digital presence has once again ignited backlash and debate, blurring the line between performance and provocation. Recently, he stormed out of an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan after Morgan brought up the rapper’s X account. Here’s what happened.
Kanye ‘Ye’ West and Piers Morgan got in a heated argument over West’s X followers
Kanye “Ye” West’s X account continues to make headlines. In a stream of posts that range from philosophical musings to antisemitic rants, the rapper-turned-entrepreneur seems intent on reclaiming the spotlight by any means necessary. His latest tirades have drawn both outrage and intrigue, reigniting debates about censorship, mental health, and the influence of celebrity voices in digital spaces. He also hasn’t hesitated to call out his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and his ex-friend, Jay-Z, in posts, raising eyebrows.
On May 6, 2025, West spoke to Piers Morgan on Morgan’s news program, Uncensored. Morgan and West have talked in the past, so it’s clear that the British reporter and the rapper have a rapport. However, the interview went off the rails when Morgan mentioned West’s 32 million followers on X. West disagreed with the number and questioned how Morgan came up with it.
“You’re not gonna take inches off my d***, bro,” West said. ” … I’m a gift, bro. You know what I mean? Why do all you people in media act like you haven’t played my songs at your weddings, or graduations, or at funerals, or when your child was born? You take somebody that’s living, like a Lennon, a Michael Jackson … like, that nuance right there, it’s idiotic. It just shows the hate that you put out for people that put love. There’s so much love ….”
Morgan interrupted West’s rant. “What are you talking about?” the interviewer said. “I haven’t said anything!”
“OK, now you’re not taking accountability or responsibility … this is what you get for now,” West continued. “We can circle back when you can count.”
The journalist and the rapper exchanged words on social media after the interview
Piers Morgan wasn’t impressed with Kanye “Ye” West’s conduct on Uncensored. After West walked out of the interview in just four minutes, he tagged Morgan in a post on X.
“Let’s have a real interview someday,” he wrote. “It’s all love.”
“We could have had one yesterday if you hadn’t run away before I could ask you any questions,” Morgan replied. “When you’re prepared to actually do that, let me know.”
Viewers on Reddit think West could not have looked worse in the interview.
“Pretty wild to be in a room with Piers Morgan and you are somehow the biggest baby,” a Reddit user commented.
“Piers Morgan being the lesser of both evils is not something I saw my night ending with,” another user wrote.
Piers Morgan gave more context to the interview via Instagram
On May 7, 2025, Piers Morgan posted a video to Instagram where he discussed his off-the-rails interview with Kanye “Ye” West. Morgan explained that he wanted to hold West accountable for his antisemitic, hateful rants. However, he didn’t get the chance.
“The genesis of all this was two years ago, I interviewed him when he was going through his initial, slightly crazy phase where it appeared that he was embracing antisemitism in a pretty vile way,” Morgan explained. “I took him on, it was a two-hour interview, it was quite fascinating, but he was reasonably normal, I would say, for a lot of that interview, quite reflective, quite self-aware of what he’d done, and almost apologetic. Two years forward, and Ye has been on a systematic rampage of blatant antisemitism, embracing Adolf Hitler, Nazism, swastikas. It’s all been extraordinarily, and I think deliberately, offensive to Jewish people, of course.”
“It’s caused huge upheaval, a lot of commercial deals have crashed, notably on X, where he goes on these posting rampages,” the journalist continued. “It seems like he’s on a mission to attack everyone and everything, blaming everyone and everything for all his woes, apart from the person who is most responsible, and that’s him.”
