Kate Middleton’s Throwback Bikini Pics Spark Debate About Her and Sister Pippa
Prince William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) met when they attended college together and have been dating since the early 2000s. The future king has dealt with the paparazzi all his life and once Kate and William got together, she became one of the most photographed women in the world.
They’ve been captured at royal events, public engagements, and even vacationing together over the years. Some photos of the couple leaked a while back included them soaking up the sun and having fun on a yacht with Kate’s family. Now, a video showing the princess’s bikini pics has been shared online, but some fans can’t tell if one impressive shot is Kate or her sister, Pippa.
Fans aren’t sure who was diving: Kate or Pippa?
A video uploaded on TikTok shows Kate several years back enjoying herself while on a yacht with William, Pippa, and others. The future queen looked stunning in a white bikini, and one image showed off an impressive dive backward off the boat. But was it actually Kate diving?
The video has more than 290,000 views, over 15,000 likes, and nearly 100 comments. While most praised Kate for looking good and jumping backward, the creator of the video responded that it wasn’t William’s bride jumping in the water. It was Pippa.
“Now that I’m looking at it, I’m pretty sure the one diving is her sister … you can kinda see Kate off to the side. Opps,” the creator wrote.
But not everyone agrees, as many still gave Kate credit for the dive. The confusion is likely due to the fact that the siblings both have brown hair, a similar build, and were wearing white bikinis, therefore the debate continued. Under closer inspection though, it does appear to be Pippa jumping as she has a front-tie on her bikini top, which is visible in the dive shot. Kate does not have a tie on her swimsuit.
The time Kate was photographed in a bathing suit that infuriated Prince William
There were some bikini pics the paps got of Kate one time that really upset William and the rest of the royals.
Back in 2012, William and Kate traveled to the Provence region of France and stayed at a private chateau owned by Queen Elizabeth II’s nephew, Viscount David Linley. Since the couple thought they were alone, Kate decided to take her swim top off while she sunbathed.
The problem was they weren’t totally alone. A paparazzo was hiding in the bushes half a mile away from the secluded chateau and used a long-focus lens to capture the princess while she sunbathed topless. Those images were later sold to the French newspaper Closer.
The royals were livid when they discovered that the photos of Kate had been taken. The Palace then released a statement (per Entertainment Tonight) that read: “Their Royal Highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner. Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them.”
William was understandably very angry about the photographs and even took legal action against the tabloid over an invasion of his and Kate’s privacy. The court in Nanterre, west of Paris, awarded them $124,000 in damages and interest to be paid by the celebrity magazine and two photographers. The magazine’s editor and the CEO of its publisher were each fined a further $52,000 — the maximum amount allowed.
