Katy Perry did not have a good 2025. She and Orlando Bloom ended their lengthy relationship, and she faced mockery after the Blue Origin space trip. She recently said that the year was one of the most difficult years of her life, though she is in a better place now.

Katy Perry said 2025 was one of the hardest years of her life

In 2025, public opinion turned harshly on Perry. Her album didn’t perform well, she faced backlash for going to space, and her engagement to Bloom ended.

“We’re all human here. And it doesn’t matter — sadness doesn’t discriminate, grief does not discriminate, pain does not discriminate. Everyone is subjected to it in their own ways,” Perry said at the premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live in Paris. “Last year was probably one of the hardest years of my life.”

She said that while things were difficult, she kept pushing through.

“I went through a f*** ton. And there were days that were really, really, really hard,” Perry said. “And I just kept going because I made a promise to my fans, a promise to my daughter, and a promise to myself.”

She encouraged the audience to keep pushing through difficult times, because she has reached a much happier point in her life.

“I walked through the fire, because everybody has to walk through their own fire,” she said. “And if you’re walking through hell, you keep going, because on the other side of hell is definitely heaven.”

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom announced their breakup in 2025

Perry and Bloom ended their engagement after nearly a decade together. They reportedly wanted to make things work, but ultimately realized they had to end things.

“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” they said in a statement to People. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter [Daisy Dove, 4½] with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

She has since moved on to a relationship with Justin Trudeau.

She admitted she has regrets about the space flight

One of Perry’s biggest moments of criticism came after the Blue Origin space trip. Perry said that the trip changed her life, but she regrets making such a public spectacle out of it. People criticized her for working with Jeff Bezos’ company and for kissing the ground after a 10-minute trip.
