Nicole Kidman recently ended her marriage to Keith Urban

In September 2025, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban, her husband of nearly 20 years. They swiftly settled the matter. She admitted that this has not been easy on her.

“But at the same time I’m like, ‘OK, I didn’t expect this. I had a different view of what my life was going to be, but this is what it is now,’” she told Vogue. “You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it’s all going to be like and then it’s… not. You have to adjust. You adapt. The future, it’s completely unknown to me right now.”

She admitted that she was “very fearful and deeply vulnerable” in the period after the split. Still, she realized that she had to move forward with her life.

Was Nicole Kidman more compatible with Keith Urban or Tom Cruise?

Kidman, who was born on June 20, is a Gemini. Her first husband, Cruise, was born on July 3, making him a Cancer. These signs seem relatively different on the surface. Geminis are social butterflies, while Cancers are far more introverted. While it may be difficult to overcome these differences at first, they can build a strong bond if they do. Geminis can help pull Cancers out of their shells, and Cancers can help Geminis slow down. If they are able to accept their differences, they can work well together. If they aren’t able to compromise, though, they will quickly face challenges.

Urban, who was born on Oct. 26, is a Scorpio. These signs are also highly different. Like Cancers, Scorpios are more introverted, which can cause friction with Geminis. Kidman married Cruise in 1990, when she was in the early stages of her career.

“Yeah, I got married so young,” she said. “Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural.”

She said she would have thrown her career away to be with him.

“We just fell madly in love and it was that simple. I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married.’ And then I was his ‘wife’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’ I’m like, ‘So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care.’”
