Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Makes Royal Family Plea as He Feels He’s Being ‘Wasted’ Now
After more links connecting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to light, King Charles stripped his brother of his remaining titles and evicted him from his home in Windsor.
The ex-prince was then banished from the royal family and sent to live more than 100 miles away in Norfolk. But now, following several months in exile, he wants back in.
Many believed that Andrew’s life as he knew it when he was a working royal and prominent member of the Firm was over years ago when he stepped down from his royal duties after he was accused of sexually abusing Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre when she was a minor. Although the former duke has always denied the allegations against him, King Charles could no longer ignore the public outcry and brought down the hammer.
In October 2025, Buckingham Palace released a statement that read, “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor … [Andrew’s] lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease.
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
But Andrew apparently thinks he could still be of use to his family instead of “wasting” away at his new home on the king’s Sandringham estate.
A source told The Examiner that the disgraced royal is keen to get back to his duties and feels as though his abilities are “wasted” in seclusion.
“The fact he’s effectively been banished into seclusion and omitted from all social functions or big picture discussions is something that angers him greatly,” the source shared. “He believes it’s wrong and foolish for the king to be wasting his expertise.
“He’s not shy in complaining that the family has gone to pieces in the wake of his mother’s death. In [Andrew’s] mind, Charles is out of his depth right now. And this deepening gulf between him and William, plus the farcical situation involving the Sussexes, is proof that a shift in approach is critical in order for everyone to move forward.”
They added that Andrew “feels passionately that he’s the perfect person to step up and help in some capacity” and he is “pushing” for that. He would also “appreciate plenty more day-to-day support,” including “more staff and better lodgings and expenses for a start.”
When Andrew was still a working royal, he served as a trade envoy under his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, between 2001 and 2011. His arrest in February 2026 is related to that role as he’s been accused of sharing confidential material with Epstein.
Following his arrest, the King released a statement that read, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”
