The former Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd has been accused of sharing revenge porn. The reality star faces three misdemeanors and possible jail time. When she broke her silence about the charges, she said that she believes one of her family members could be behind them.

Kelly Dodd received a revenge porn charge

Prosecutors have accused Dodd of engaging in revenge porn. She allegedly recorded footage of a woman masturbating and having sex. The other woman allegedly did not know Dodd was recording her. This reportedly caused her intense emotional distress. 

Prosecutors have also accused Dodd of threatening the woman, her property, and her family. She faces three misdemeanor charges and possible jail time.

Dodd also faces a battery charge from a separate incident with another person.

Kelly Dodd believes that a family member is behind the revenge porn charge

Dodd broke her silence about the charges on a May 28 episode of The Rick and Kelly Show, which she hosts with her husband, Rick Leventhal. 

“I was like, ‘What the actual f*** is going on here?’” Dodd said, per People.

Leventhal said that TMZ, which first reported on the charges, got the information wrong.

“We can’t tell you much right now because Kelly hasn’t gone to court yet,” he said. “We can confirm that Kelly is going to court. We can also confirm that TMZ got most of the facts wrong, like, completely wrong.”

Dodd said the charges were “beyond absurd.” She believes that her family members are behind the situation.

“I need some uplifting right now, because this is so insane, and I know it’s somebody in my family that is putting this stuff out, driving this,” Dodd said. “And you know who it is.”

Her family has reportedly cut her off

Amid Dodd’s legal troubles, Dodd has reportedly faced a rift with her family members. A source told Us Weekly that Dodd’s family refuses to engage with her unless she seeks professional help.

“This has been a nightmare for her mother [Bobbi Meza],” the source said.

Meza is recovering from a recent stroke, and family members say that the situation has been particularly hard on her. While Dodd recently attended her niece’s wedding, this reportedly did nothing to heal the rift. Her family also worries that Dodd is not taking her current legal struggles seriously.

“[Kelly] self-sabotages,” the insider said.

In a court appearance, Dodd pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
