Kendall Jenner’s relationship with her dad, Caitlyn Jenner, is complicated.

The model, 29, opened up about her dynamic with the former Olympian in the October 30 installment of The Kardashians. Kendall generally doesn’t comment publicly on her relationship with her father, who came out as transgender in 2015. But on The Kardashians, she hinted that she and Caitlyn don’t always see eye-to-eye.

“I have to compartmentalize my relationship with my dad in a way because I love her,” Kendall said in a confessional. “She’s my dad. We have a good relationship. But sometimes I get frustrated with her with certain things because we just have completely different views on things.”

Kendall didn’t elaborate on the her specific differences with Caitlyn. But her dad is an outspoken conservative who launched a longshot bid for governor of California in 2021. Caitlyn has also praised Donald Trump, and in January, she made it clear that she continued to support him, despite his anti-LGBTQ positions.

“Always stick with your gut,” she wrote in a pre-inauguration post on Instagram. “I supported him from DAY 1 and was honored to be there for the first inauguration. Happier than ever to be back for the second one, supporting @realdonaldtrump who along with his team will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Kendall doesn’t often talk politics, but she did re-post a message on Instagram after Trump’s 2024 victory urging people to “keep pushing forward with love, resilience, and a vision for a world where everyone is seen, heard, and valued” (via Elle). In 2016, she supported Hillary Clinton for president.

‘The Kardashians’ star worries that her dad ‘gets lonely’

Despite their differences of opinion, Kendall made it clear she loves and cares about her dad.

“I always want to include her,” she told a producer. “I know she doesn’t have a lot outside of her family and I think that she gets lonely. You don’t ever want someone to be sad, especially your dad and someone you love and care about.”

Kendall also praised her mom, Kris Jenner, for extending an olive branch to her ex by inviting her to the family dinner.

“I definitely wasn’t expecting my dad to be here, just knowing the relationship that my mom has with my dad — not that it’s bad, it’s just distant,” she said.

“My mom’s had a hard time inviting my dad to some of our family gatherings in the past,” she continued. “So it makes me happy that Kylie and I didn’t have to ask for my dad to be invited and that my mom just thought it was a good idea.”

New episodes of The Kardashians stream Thursdays on Hulu.
