Kendall Jenner Reportedly Just Spent Over $22 Million on Ellen DeGeneres’ Montecito Ranch
Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have turned their Montecito ranch, known as Rancho San Leandro, into a notable real estate story of buying, flipping, and buying again. In 2024, DeGeneres and de Rossi quietly relocated to a picturesque home in the Cotswolds, a relocation she later acknowledged was driven by former President Donald Trump’s re-election. While the former talk show host embraces the charm of British life, she reportedly offloaded the ranch to Kendall Jenner of Kardashian-Jenner family fame. Here’s what to know.
Kendall Jenner reportedly bought Ellen DeGeneres’ Montecito ranch for $22.8 million
It looks like Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi decided to sell their gorgeous Montecito ranch. They originally acquired the sprawling property in 2017 for $7.2 million, only to sell it less than a year later to Tinder cofounder Sean Rad for $11 million, pocketing a tidy profit, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In a twist, the couple repurchased the ranch in 2021 for $14.3 million, marking a remarkable rebound in value and reaffirming their deep involvement in the upscale Montecito real estate scene. Nestled next door to Oprah Winfrey’s vast estate, this six-acre property boasts equestrian facilities as well as a collection of historic adobe and hacienda-style buildings.
North Hill Crest reported in August 2025 that Kendall Jenner just bought the ranch for $22.8 million. Considering DeGeneres and Rossi bought the place for much less, they’re likely reaping the benefits of another successful property sale.
Fans posted about the alleged sale on Reddit. One Reddit user noticed how Kylie Jenner and others appeared to spend time on the property recently.
“It’s a gorgeous home, very Kendall core,” another fan commented. “I’ve always loved her interior design choices.”
