Khloé Kardashian Decries ‘Inhumane’ ICE Raids in LA
Khloé Kardashian is speaking up about the ICE immigration raids that are happening in Los Angeles.
On Thursday, The Kardashians star took to her Instagram Story to share a message about the situation in LA, where Donald Trump has called in the National Guard (over the objections of local officials) in response to protests over ICE’s actions.
“LA has been through a lot over the last few years and currently seeing the images of families being torn apart is beyond devastating,” Kardashian – who noted that she’s lived in the city “my entire life” – wrote.
“If ICE’s mission is truly to protect us from real threats, who wouldn’t support that?” she continued. “They call this protection, but let’s be honest, what we see is violence. What we see is punishment. What we see is inhumane.”
“We see families being destroyed. We see fear,” the reality star added. “This isn’t protection. This is gross injustice.”
Immigrants “shape the soul” of Los Angeles, Kardashian said.
“When fear replaces justice, and families live in constant anxiety, we’ve lost our way,” she concluded. “There has to be a more compassionate, humane way forward.”
Kim Kardashian says ‘communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants’
Kardashian’s statement echoes one shared by her sister, Kim Kardashian, earlier this week.
“When we’re told that ICE exists to keep our country safe and remove violent criminals- great. But when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what’s right,” the SKIMS founder wrote on her Instagram Story (via KTLA).
“No matter where you fall politically, it’s clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants,” Kim added. “We can’t turn a blind eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely. There HAS to be a BETTER way.”
The Kardashian sisters are far from the only celebs expressing concern about what is happening in Los Angeles. John Leguizamo, Eva Longoria, Pedro Pascal, and Doechii are also among those who have spoken out.
