In a recent episode of Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, Kardashian addressed how she protects her kids from negative rumors and perception, especially as they age. She noted that her daughter, True, is nearly 8 years old, and other children around True have phones. True recently asked her mother what it means if she’s “rich” after another child at school approached her with the subject.

“And I’m like, ‘These kids.’ So many of these things are learned from other people, and that’s what bothers me,” Kardashian said on the podcast. “… What’s scary is knowing the older they get, the more they’re gonna ask me questions, be aware of things. And a lot of that is driven by outsiders.”

So, how did Kardashian approach the topic of being “rich” with her daughter? She told True that it doesn’t matter how much money you have. She also told the child how she “works really hard to provide a life” for her and Tatum.

Kardashian also said she explained to True that True’s father, Tristan Thompson, grew up without much money, and that’s why Tristan insists on working hard now. Additionally, she told True that her own father, Robert Kardashian, didn’t grow up with wealth. “And my dad always reminded us, ‘This is my money. This isn’t your money. Like, I have money. You guys don’t,'” she said.

Ultimately, she told True that it’s important to “be good people and work really hard.”

“And we never treat other people differently,” Kardashian continued. “And I said everyone comes in all different shapes and sizes, and different money, and all of that.”

The reality star reiterated that she doesn’t want anyone to ever be “mistreated,” and that’s more important than riches and fame. “I was explaining how there are good people that have nothing, and there are bad people that have everything. And I was like, ‘Don’t you want everything in life?’ And she’s like, ‘OK!’ I was like, ‘So, that means we have to be the best and work the best.'”
