Khloé Kardashian just got real about co-parenting with her podcast listeners. In an episode of Khloé in Wonder Land, she explained how she successfully co-parents True, 7, and Tatum, 3, with Tristan Thompson.

Kardashian explained how she makes it easy for Tristan. She’s incredibly reasonable and wants their children to spend time with him, whether she’s present or not. She’s spoken openly about the importance of setting aside personal feelings to focus on what’s best for the kids, even admitting on The Kardashians that co-parenting isn’t always easy but is a commitment she takes seriously. Tristan, for his part, has made efforts to be more present, especially after moving closer to Kardashian to support a more hands-on parenting dynamic.

In one segment of Kardashian’s podcast episode, she explained how she had a disagreement with Tristan over the length of True’s shorts. While she didn’t agree, she noted how she navigated the potential for conflict.

“Tristan’s not wrong, but he’s like, ‘Don’t you think those shorts are too short on her?’ And I’m like, ugh,” Kardashian explained. “You want to almost be like, ‘Yeah, she’s my kid.’ But, it’s our kid. But you just want to have that ownership. ‘Yes, they’re short, but we’re just hanging out at the house pool,’ because I’ll just send pictures to him, or whatever.”

“You still want to let your co-parenter be the parent as much as they want to,” she continued. “And you also have to give them grace, yourself grace. Sometimes, you have to take a breath and be like, ‘It’s OK. He’s doing what’s right. Yes, the shorts are short. But we’re at home lounging. So, let me explain the context of these photos.’ So, sometimes I do get defensive internally, and I have to remind myself, no, this is good.”
