In Cudi: The Memoir, rapper Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi pours out his life story with raw honesty and emotional clarity. Spanning his early years in Cleveland through his meteoric rise to fame, he confronts the shadows behind the spotlight: loss, depression, addiction, isolation, and suicidal thoughts. He recounts moments of crisis with unflinching honesty, including his cocaine-fueled breakdowns, a near-fatal stroke during rehab, and the deeply personal realization that he had to survive for the sake of his young daughter. And he also included bits about Sean “Diddy” Combs. Here’s what he said about Combs potentially spiking his drink.

Kid Cudi wrote in his memoir about feeling wary of water that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs offered him

Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi delivered unsettling testimony in support of Cassie Ventura during Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial. Cudi outlined a series of alarming incidents that followed their brief 2011 romance. He recounted how, after Combs allegedly discovered their relationship, his home was invaded — security cameras tampered with, Christmas gifts scattered, and his dog locked in a bathroom. Weeks later, his Porsche in the driveway was firebombed with a Molotov cocktail, leaving a gaping hole in its convertible roof.

Cudi discussed a meeting he had with Combs in his new memoir. He claimed that he and Combs spoke at the SoHo house to discuss Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. Cudi and Ventura dated briefly in 2011 and stayed friends afterward.

“He asked me if I wanted some water,” Cudi wrote in his memoir about his time with Combs, according to The Mirror US. “I told him, ‘No,’ because I don’t know what he put in it. And also, his being pleasant was unnerving. He was doing it on purpose, trying to intimidate me.”

Cudi further elaborated on Combs in his book.

“I thought, ‘F*** this dude. I lost a car, but I got a chance to have a special moment with a special young lady and be there for her while she was struggling and dealing with some severe pain,’ and that made me feel good,” he wrote. Cudi then noted that dating Ventura “bruised” Combs’ “ego.”

Kid Cudi wanted no part in the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial. When he was finally subpoenaed, he wasn’t happy. However, he overcame the discomfort knowing that his participation was helping Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.

“I thought about, you know, when I was up there, you know, I’m here to support Cassie,” Cudi said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “And, you know, Cassie is my friend. And I love her, and I want to see her do well. When I saw her get married, I was so happy for her that she found someone, her person. When I saw she was having kids, I was like, ‘Oh, this is so awesome.’ You know what I mean? I’ve always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy, because I know she was living a nightmare.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ex-assistant worried that Kid Cudi and Cassie’s relationship would get them ‘all killed’

Capricorn Clark, Sean “Diddy” Combs’s longtime assistant and former creative director for Cassie Ventura, delivered some of the trial’s most compelling testimony. She recounted a frightening episode in December 2011 when Combs, visibly enraged, showed up at her home. Combs allegedly demanded she get dressed and declared that they were “going to kill” Kid Cudi, NBC News reports. Clark said she felt she had no choice but to comply and was driven to Cudi’s house at gunpoint, all while fearing for her life.

Clark testified that she worried that Cudi and Ventura’s relationship was “going to get us all killed.”
