Kid Cudi Says Diddy Broke Into His Home: ‘You Messed With My Dog’
Kid Cudi took the stand Thursday to testify about a series of unsettling encounters with Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently on trial in federal court for sex trafficking and racketeering.
In his May 22 testimony, Cudi – whose real name is Scott Mescudi – spoke about Combs’ intense reaction when he learned that Cudi was dating Cassie Ventura, with whom Combs was also involved. Mescudi accused the Bad Boy Records founder of breaking into his home and firebombing his car with a Molotov cocktail after he learned about the relationship.
Kid Cudi says Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs ‘broke into my house’
Mescudi told the court that he began seeing Ventura in late 2011, after she told him she had ended her relationship with Combs. Not long after the relationship began, Mescudi said that Ventura called to tell him that Diddy had found out she was dating another man. He had also discovered Mescudi’s address and Ventura was worried he would confront her new boyfriend at his home.
Ventura and Mescudi hid out in a hotel, where he says he received a call from one of Combs’ employees, according to NPR. The employee said Combs’ was inside Mescudi’s home. Mescudi spoke to Combs as he drove back home and said the hip-hop mogul told him he was waiting for him. By the time Mescudi arrived, no one was in the house. But there was evidence someone had been in the residence, he said. Christmas gifts for his family had been unwrapped and his dog had been shut up in the bathroom.
Later, Combs reached out to Cudi. Mescudi said he was not in the mood to talk to the other rapper, telling him: “You broke into my house. You messed with my dog. I don’t want to talk to you.”
Kid Cudi compares Diddy to ‘a Marvel supervillian’
Combs’ threatening behavior caused Mescudi to break things off with Ventura out of concern for his own safety.
“I knew Sean Combs was violent,” he testified.
But ending the relationship did not bring Mescudi peace. Soon after, he came home to find that someone had firebombed his Porsche convertible, which was parked in his driveway. He believed Combs was responsible and set up a meeting to deal with the conflict. The two men met at SoHo House in Los Angeles.
“Sean Combs was standing there with his hands behind his back like a Marvel supervillain,” Mescudi recalled.
Diddy remained calm during the conversation, Mescudi said. The meeting, which also included Ventura, ended with the two men shaking hands. But when Mescudi asked about his destroyed car, he got a “cold stare” in response.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Combs allegedly said.
