Kid Rock Scores First No. 1 on Billboard Christian Songs Chart After Halftime Debut
Kid Rock continues to stay in the headlines following Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show.” The conservative group positioned the halftime concert as a celebration of “faith, family, and freedom” that played at the same time as Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance. Kid Rock headlined and hit the audience with the classics. Now, the rocker is scoring No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart with a song he performed on the conservative stage.
Kid Rock hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart with ‘Til You Can’t’
Kid Rock is back in the spotlight following his Turning Point USA “All-American Halftime Show” performance. The rocker/rapper/country star opened with “Bawitdaba” before shifting into a more reflective segment. He then performed a reworked version of “‘Til You Can’t,” originally a hit for Cody Johnson, with added Christian-faith-oriented lyrics.
That performance helped drive the song’s expanded reach across multiple Billboard charts and ultimately contributed to Rock’s first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart, according to Whiskey Riff. Kid Rock’s version has been streamed over 3.7 million times.
During the “All-American Halftime Show,” Kid Rock took a moment to introduce the song. He claimed he awoke one night with the song stuck in his head. The rocker noted that he came up with “a verse that still needed to be written for this song.”
He then sang his own verse, according to 29News. “There’s a book sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off. There’s a man who died for all our sins hanging from the cross. You can give your life to Jesus, and he’ll give you a second chance. ‘Til you can’t,” Kid Rock sang.
The rocker also pushed the song on X after his big performance.
“If you enjoyed our version of ‘Til Ya Can’t’ on The TPUSA All American Halftime – Our studio recording of it will be available to purchase or stream at midnight tonight!” he wrote. “A big thank you to @codyjohnson and the songwriters Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers for giving me there blessing to record and release it, It really is one of the best written songs I have heard in a long time and NOTHING is more powerful than a great song in my book!”
