Don’t quit your day job.

The reviews are in for Kim Kardashian’s new Hulu drama, All’s Fair, and they’re brutal.

After a series of small parts in shows like American Horror Story and Drop Dead Diva, the reality TV personality has taken on her first major acting role in the latest series from producer Ryan Murphy.

In All’s Fair, Kardashian – who is studying to be a lawyer – plays Los Angeles divorce attorney Allura Grant. She’s part of a team at an all-female firm that specializes in handling high-profile splits. The Kardashians star shares the stage with an impressive cast, including Oscar nominees Glenn Close and Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Teyana Taylor. But even that roster of stars isn’t enough to salvage a show that critics says it virtually unwatchable.

Critic calls Kim Kardashian’s ‘All’s Fair’ performance ‘monotonal’

As of November 5, All’s Fair has a dismal 6% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics didn’t mince words when savaging the show. A writer at the Sydney Morning Herald called Kardashian’s performance “monotonal and emotionally negligent .. a void daubed with designer product placement and nihilistic girlboss mantras.”  The Hollywood Reporter described her acting “stiff and affectless without a single authentic note,” adding that she came off particularly badly when appearing with more talented actors like Close and Watts.

But Kardashian’s lack of acting ability is far from the only problem with All’s Fair. The writing is bad, with “thin” characters and “flimsy” storylines, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

“I did not know if was still possible to make television this bad,” Lucy Mangan wrote in The Guardian, before going on to describe All’s Fair as “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible.”

Several critics slammed the show for failing at its attempt at camp. “These actresses clearly want to chew scenery, but there’s nothing to chew on, just one tired cliché after another delivered with visible disinterest … It’s beneath everyone involved, even Kardashian, who mostly seems bored,” Pajiba’s critic wrote.

Some viewers love ‘All’s Fair’

Casual TV viewers were somewhat more positive about All’s Fair than critics. It has a 63% fresh rating from audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes

“If you are in the right mood, you can laugh at it, not with it,” one person wrote.

“Is it going to win any awards? No,” another wrote before calling it “an easy watch” and “entertaining.”

“It’s like an upgraded soap opera,” one viewer commented on Instagram.

“I LITERALLY DO NOTTTT UNDERSTAND THE HATE! I dont careeee if Kim K is talentless, this show is AMAZING regardless…,” another wrote.

The bad reviews also don’t seem to be affecting the show’s performance. All’s Fair is currently No. 1 on the Hulu streaming charts, though how long it holds onto that position remains to be seen.

The first three episodes of All’s Fair are streaming on Hulu. New episodes drop weekly on Tuesdays through December 9.
