Kim Kardashian’s Kids’ Pomeranian Puppies Come With 5 Important Requirements
Kim Kardashian went viral on Christmas Day as she shared photos of four Pomeranian puppies on social media. The mom of four gifted each of her kids with a tiny fur baby and almost immediately received backlash from the public. Now, PETA is weighing in and sharing that “puppies are not plushies.” They come with huge responsibilities that children often don’t understand. Here’s what North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm will need to provide for their Pomeranian puppies:
Kim Kardashian’s Pomeranian puppies need a lot from their new owners
It’s popular to surprise children with bunnies and ducklings on Easter, and puppies or kittens on Christmas day. After Kim Kardashian’s Instagram stories, however, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) founder Ingrid Newkirk wants to remind parents, “Puppies are not plushies.” She told People that it’s a “shame” Kim missed her chance to advocate for shelter dogs.
Newkirk encouraged Kim and her sister Khloe Kardashian, who gifted her children a black lab puppy for Christmas, to “make some amends” by volunteering at a local animal shelter with their kids or funding an adopt-a-thon or spay day to “help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis.”
Kim hasn’t responded to PETA’s statement. Hopefully, her children, North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, will provide their Pomeranians with five things the tiny breed needs:
Pomeranians need meticulous grooming
Pomeranians have a thick double coat that requires regular brushing, ideally several times a week, to prevent tangles and matting, according to Greencross Vets. During this toy breed’s seasonal shedding periods, the kids will have to brush their puppies daily. Pom parents can’t shave their fur babies, as this can damage regrowth. The puppies will also need regular nail trims, ear checks, and sanitary trims.
Kim’s Pom puppies need gentle exercise every day
Pomeranian puppies benefit from short, gentle play sessions spread throughout the day. Brief walks and indoor play are usually enough because they tire quickly. These smart little dogs need mental stimulation, too, using simple training games. The Kardashians should ensure their Pom puppies don’t jump or overexert themselves too much while exploring the family’s massive properties. This could lead to joint damage or heat exhaustion, especially in Southern California.
The Kardashian puppies need frequent, small meals
Pomeranian puppies should be fed a high-quality, small-breed puppy food that supports their rapid growth and high metabolism. The Kardashian puppies also need these meals to be small and frequent to help maintain stable blood sugar levels. Fresh water should always be available.
North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm’s puppies need careful handling
It’s tempting to manhandle a cute little puppy. However, as this tiny breed gets used to being loved by little ones, Pomeranians need careful handling and socialization. North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm need to handle their puppies gently, and often, so they become comfortable with being picked up and brushed. The dogs will need to be slowly and consistently introduced to new environments to prevent fearfulness and excessive barking later on.
Their Pomeranians need specific dental care
Pomeranians are prone to dental issues because of their small mouths and tightly packed teeth. The Kardashians will need to brush their teeth regularly using dog-safe toothpaste and provide them with small-breed toys.
Fortunately, Kim Kardashian and her family members have the resources to provide these Pomeranian puppies with everything they need. As PETA mentioned, it wouldn’t hurt if they sent some resources to their local animal shelters, too.
