Kim Kardashian Says Kids ‘Manage’ Rare Visits With Kanye West

The end of Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West’s marriage marked the conclusion of a cultural era that long fascinated fans and the media. By the time Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021, sources cited growing lifestyle differences and Kanye’s public controversies as major factors in their split. The couple’s separation played out under intense public scrutiny. But Kardashian maintained that her decision was rooted in a desire for peace and stability for herself and their children.
“I have had a few marriages that I didn’t think that were for me, and so now, like, ‘Am I a failure?’ And then I have to really look back at that and say, you know what, an over-a-decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure, you know?” Kardashian said on the Call Her Daddy podcast in October 2025. “You can’t think that way; you can’t live that way. You can’t worry about what everyone’s gonna say. And I have to come home to myself, and I have to be happy.”
Kardashian then noted that there were a “lot of things” in her marriage to Kanye that she could no longer deal with, leading up to the divorce.
“I didn’t like the feeling of someone being like, maybe talking bad about my kids’ grandmother, aunts, all of those feelings,” she continued. “If someone feels that way, we shouldn’t be together. Just not feeling safe — not even physically. Just maybe emotionally, or even financially.”

Kim Kardashian touched on what it’s like to co-parent with Kanye “Ye” West.
“It’s not easy,” she said. “I raise the kids, you know, full-time. They live with me. I welcome a great, healthy relationship with my kids and their dad. And I think, you know, he knows that. I push for it all the time, but I also protect them when it’s time for that, and it goes in waves and phases. It’s a lot of work. … I just welcome healthy relationships. It’s not easy.”
Kardashian then noted that “it’s probably been a couple months since we’ve heard from him.”
As for how Kardashian and Kanye’s four kids handle not seeing their father regularly, Kardashian notes that her kids always understood that Kanye traveled a lot for work. “We manage it really well. They love their life, and their routine, and their schedule,” she continued. She also noted that her job as a mother is to ensure her kids stick to their schedule and remain healthy and happy.
“The one thing that gets me is that there’s this narrative that I keep the kids away from him,” Kardashian added. “I’ve never once done that.”
The reality star worried she would have to live ‘a different life’ post-divorce
While speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kim Kardashian admitted that she feared for her future after her divorce from Kanye “Ye” West.
“I walked away thinking that I would have to live a different life — that I would not have a connection to anyone in fashion, or art,” Kardashian said. “That was a big part of his life.”
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star noted that she thought she’d have to return to “a different world.” However, many of her “biggest projects” and “best relationships” in the fashion and art worlds emerged after her divorce. As for now, she’s currently single and totally OK with that.
