She promptly turned around and walked back in, later emerging cradling her then-1-year-old daughter, North. The clip sparked a media frenzy, with critics accusing her of abandoning her toddler in the lobby. Kardashian swiftly debunked the rumors via Twitter, explaining she had only left to verify the car seat’s safety, an issue she’d faced the previous day.

“I went to the car to make sure the car seat was in because the day before we had a car seat issue,” she posted at the time. “Do u guys really think a 1-year-old would be inside the lobby by herself! Oh wait she was waiting to check out lol.”

In July 2025, she addressed the decade-old rumor again in an Instagram Story. A fan Instagram posted, “My favorite Kardashian moment is when Kim forgot North in a hotel room,” along with three crying emojis.

Kardashian reposted the viral clip and added her own comment, clearly still affected by the ill-informed rumor. “I wanted to show the look off before holding her bc her outfit didn’t match mine!” Kardashian clarified once more, according to DailyMail.com. “I didn’t forget her!!!!”

However, Kardashian fans are skeptical. The explanation Kardashian gave in 2025 doesn’t fit the initial reasoning she gave 10 years prior.

“Is this real because I remember her saying something about leaving her car seat at the time?” a fan questioned on Reddit. “Nothing about the outfit.”

Another fan had a different explanation for what they suspect occurred. They alleged that Kardashian wanted her photo taken by the paparazzi and wanted to ensure North was in tow.

“No, what happened is — she wanted a pap pic without her child, so she went out and got papped,” the second fan commented, “then went and grabbed North. She did it in Tokyo when she ‘forgot’ her coat to get two separate pictures.”

“I DON’T WANT TO JUST ‘SEE’ MY KIDS. I NEED TO RAISE THEM. I NEED TO HAVE SAY SO OF WEAR [sic] THEY GO TO SCHOOL AND WHO THEIR FRIENDS ARE AND WHOS [sic] HOUSES THEY SLEEP OVER WEATHER [sic] MY DAUGHTERS WEAR LIPSTICK AND PERFUME,” he posted to X in April 2025, according to Page Six.

“ALL THESE RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME BY THE KARDASHIAN MOB HULU AND DISNEY AND THE BIGGER AGENDA TO USE THE SELECTIVELY BRED BLACK CHILDREN TO BE PLATFORMS TO INFLUENCE BLACK PEOPLE,” he continued.

West hasn’t commented on the resurfaced 2014 clip of Kardashian allegedly forgetting North West. However, the couple married that same year. However, if he did, he’d likely have a lot to say about how Kardashian raises their eldest daughter now. While the Paris incident happened when North was just 1, she’s now 12 and has a closer relationship with West than ever before.
