Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, in connection with a 2023 nightclub altercation. The 36-year-old singer faces charges of grievous bodily harm after allegedly striking music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle during an unprovoked attack at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district. This is far from the first time Brown’s bad behavior has hit the media. However, he still has outside support from friends. Here’s what Kim Kardashian’s ex, NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., posted.

Kim Kardashian’s ex, Odell Beckham Jr., supports Chris Brown following his arrest

Chris Brown is currently facing significant legal challenges stemming from an alleged assault in February 2023. The incident, which occurred at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district, involved Brown allegedly striking music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle, followed by further physical assault. Diaw claims the attack resulted in severe injuries and has filed a civil lawsuit seeking £12 million ($16 million) in damages. Brown was arrested in Manchester on May 15, 2025, and was initially denied bail due to the severity of the charges. However, he was later released on £5 million bail, with strict conditions including a travel ban, surrendering his passport, and restrictions on contact with the complainant and co-defendants.

Despite Brown’s many notable legal troubles, he still has outside support. Odell Beckham Jr., Kim Kardashian’s ex, posted a photo of himself and Brown to his Instagram Stories. “Free Breeeezyyy,” he captioned his Stories and tagged Brown. “The moral compass will never lie …. we waitinn on yaaa.”

Fans are divided on Beckham Jr.’s post.

“Maybe after a couple more assaults, Chris Brown fans will finally acknowledge he’s a s***ty person who makes good music,” a fan on Reddit wrote.

“The ignorance and stupidity needs to stop,” another fan wrote. “Let the man pay for his actions instead of treating him like a kid.”

Chris Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. have a longstanding friendship

Chris Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. share a close friendship that blends their passion for music, fashion, and sports. Their bond was evident at Beckham Jr.’s star-studded 30th birthday party, where Brown joined other celebrities like Lil Baby and Devin Booker to celebrate the occasion. The two have also collaborated professionally, with Beckham Jr. making a cameo in the music video for Brown’s 2017 track “Flipmode,” alongside Fabolous and Velous.

While Brown clearly has famous friends, it seems he doesn’t have a lot of support from others in the music industry. A fan tweeted that others in music “use” Brown and all “low-key dislike him.” In a resurfaced tweet, the R&B singer said he views others in the industry like “co-workers.”

“FACTS!!!!!!!!!! and they scary as hell,” Brown tweeted in response, according to a YouTube clip. “Not my peers … they more like co-workers.”

It seems unlikely that Kim Kardashian will back up Odell Beckham Jr. on his support for Chris Brown. While she and the wide receiver were romantically linked in late 2023, their relationship fizzled out over time. In fact, neither Kardashian nor Beckham Jr. ever publicly confirmed their romance. However, the media spotted them out together on many occasions, including Beckham Jr.’s 31st birthday party, a Super Bowl weekend gathering in Las Vegas in February 2024, and the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in March 2024.

“It’s over and just fizzled out,” a source told People about the couple in April 2024.

Since the split, Beckham Jr. doesn’t appear to be dating anyone. Kardashian also remains single as of May 2025. While they might’ve retained a friendship, we doubt they’re particularly close.
