Kim Menzies made a surprising confession in the premiere of 90 Day: The Single Life Season 5

Kim Menzies reveals ‘big secret’ on ‘90 Day: The Single Life’

Fans know Kim and her son Jamal from their appearances on various 90 Day shows. But Kim is actually a mom of three, she revealed in the February 9 episode of the TLC show.

“I’ve been carrying a really big secret for about 30 years. Jamal is not my only child,” Kim said.

“When I got pregnant with my first son, Larry, the first thing his dad said was abort it, and I just couldn’t do that,” she shared. “But I was only 21 years old. I couldn’t imagine being a single mom. I was not mentally ready. I was starting my military career. I was just not ready. So I decided to put my son up for adoption.”

For decades, Kim had no contact with her son. Then, last year, he found her and Jamal on an ancestry website and reached out. Kim and Jamal traveled to North Carolina for a face-to-face meeting with Larry and his wife and son. Now, she’s hoping Larry will visit San Diego so they can get to know each other better.

If Larry does make it to California, Kim has some big news she wants to share with him – he also has a sister.

“Larry wasn’t the only child that I put up for adoption. I also had a daughter,” Kim confessed.

‘90 Day’ star is ‘grateful’ to her son’s adoptive family

After the episode aired, Kim took to Instagram to share a photo of herself with her eldest son.

“This is my son Larry, whom I placed for adoption,” she wrote. “Our relationship is growing and improving everyday. We are forever grateful to his adoptive mom and family—they gave him a life I couldn’t have, and because of them, he grew into the amazing man he is today.”

“As you saw, I have a daughter too and will post about her at another time. We are taking everything day by day,” Kim continued.

The reality TV personality went on to say that it has been “incredibly freeing” to finally tell her “authentic story,” warts and all.

“I didn’t handle this journey perfectly with Jamal or Larry, and that’s something I will always regret—but growth often comes with hard truths,” she wrote.

Kim said she was thankful for the support of her sons, her mother, and her friends as she found the courage to speak about her experience with adoption.

“My life hasn’t been easy, sometimes by my own choices and sometimes at the hands of others, but I’ve learned how strong and resilient I truly am. Today, I live free of my past,” she said. “Thank you to everyone who has stood by me.”

90 Day: The Single Life airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on TLC. Episodes stream on HBO Max.
