Kody Brown’s Ex Meri Brown Likes Post Calling ‘Sister Wives’ Star a ‘Narcissist’
Kody Brown is something else.
As Sister Wives Season 20 draws to a close, the former polygamist has been attempting to make amends. In the most recent episodes of the TLC reality series, he’s embarked on an apology tour, visiting his three ex wives in an attempt to make amends for his past behavior.
Kody Brown apologizes to Meri Brown for being ‘toxic’
Kody is extending an olive branch to his exes, but not everyone is buying that her really feels sorry for his past actions. All three of his exes – Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown – expressed skepticism when he reached out and said he wanted to clear the air. And when Kody did finally sit down with Meri, she made it clear he had to earn the forgiveness he was seeking.
“Apology is so needed here,” Kody told his first wife during their meet-up. “Because this is still so toxic. And I apologize for that.”
“Do you apologize that you are toxic to me?” Meri replied. “Or are you just being general?”
Kody clarified that he was sorry for being toxic to her.
“Thank you,” she replied.
‘Sister Wives’ fan calls Kody a ‘narcissist’
Meri’s firm but gracious response earned praise from many Sister Wives fans. But one viewer admitted that seeing Kody interact with Meri was difficult.
“I’m gonna need to watch this one with friends,” a fan captioned a clip from the episode. “If you’ve dealt with a narcissist, this probably makes your blood boil a bit just watching.”
Meri shared the post on her own Instagram Story without further comment, suggesting that while she was able to be polite to Kody, she wasn’t able or willing to overlook his negative qualities.
This is far from the first time that Sister Wives viewers have played armchair psychiatrist and labeled Kody a narcissist. Fans have repeatedly called out what they see as his self-centeredness, victim mentality, and tendency to manipulate those around him, noting that those are all narcissistic qualities.
Kody’s second wife Janelle has said she suspects her ex might be a narcissist.
“I do think that there was a cycle of love bombing,” Janelle said during the Sister Wives Season 19 tell-all. “And then almost kind of like a wind down.”
“For a narcissist, there’s a cycle where you love bomb and then there’s sort of a waning and then you almost kind of destroy or hurt them. Then to fix it, you come back in and you love bomb. So there was kind of this cycle,” she continued.
When host Sukanya Krishnan asked Janelle if Kody was a narcissist, she hedged a bit. But her answer still spoke volumes.
“I am not qualified to diagnose him, but he—I guess everybody will have to decide,” she said.
