Kristen Doute Reacts to ‘Gross’ Comments About Her Postpartum Body
Kristen Doute isn’t here for critics of her postpartum body. On Monday, the Bravo star took to social media to shame people who felt free to slam her appearance just weeks after she gave birth to her first child.
Kristen Doute has ‘major issues with commenting on women’s bodies’
“You guys know me,” Doute, 42, said in a video posted to her Instagram Story on September 2. “You know I have major issues with commenting on women’s bodies, postpartum, like me, or not. And I just think that it’s really gross to do that and do it on the internet.”
“So read the next slide,” she added, referencing her repost of an image of a quokka, “the happiest animal on earth.”
The Vanderpump Rules alum was inspired to speak out after some negative comments on one of her recent Instagram posts. A few days earlier, she and her The Valley co-star, Brittany Cartwright, shared photos from their recent mom’s night out.
“I finally got Kristen out for a night!!” Cartwright wrote.
Unfortunately, some people took the post as opportunity to slam the reality star’s appearance, with one commenter writing that she was “25lbs overweight.”
Doute screenshotted the nasty comment and shared it on her Instagram Story.
“Nothing like social media to sh*t on my postpartum body,” she wrote.
While Doute faced some bullies, she also received plenty of supportive feedback following her night out with Cartwright.
“Imagine having a newborn and just walking out of your home looking that damn good. There is a God,” one person wrote.
“You’re so nice,” Doute replied.
‘The Valley’ star gave birth to her first baby in June
Doute and her partner, Luke Broderick, welcomed their baby, a daughter named Kaia Lily, on June 11.
“Kaia Lily Broderick, we’ve never known a love like this until you,” they wrote in a post announcing the little one’s arrival.
“She’s here, and we still can’t believe it. Luke is even hotter as a dad, and I just feel so lucky,” Doute, told Us Weekly. “And even though I haven’t slept or showered in two days, seeing our daughter and finally being able to hold her makes it all worth it. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her— our lives are already changed completely.”
The inspiration for their daughter’s name came from Hawaii, where the couple got engaged. Kaia means “the sea” in Hawaiian.
““We knew we wanted our baby name to have something to do, or revolve around, water,” she explained. “Lillies are my favorite flower. They’re associated with new beginnings, beauty, and also the name Lily indicates a ‘gentle and compassionate nature, suggesting a kind and caring personality.”
While Doute and Broderick are still adjusting to life as new parents, she admits she’s already considering trying for another baby.
“We’d love to have a second baby, if that’s possible for us. I’m sure we’ll need help again with our fertility doctor,” she told Us Weekly a few weeks after Kaia’s birth. “I hope we’re that lucky, but I know what to expect a little bit more next time around.”
