Kylie Jenner’s bold Met Gala look seems to have led to some big regrets.

The influencer and reality TV star opted for dramatic bleached brows to complement the custom Schiaparelli gown she wore for the May 4 event. But restoring her brows back to their normal color later that night proved to be more challenging than anticipated.

Kris Jenner Freaking Out Over Failed $300K Facelift: Report

On Monday night, the beauty mogul shared a video on her Instagram Story of herself and her stylist attempting to dye her brows. Things weren’t going as planned.

“My brows are ruined. What is this? What the f*ck is this?” Jenner said, while laughing.

“This looks horrible,” she added. “Horrible.”

While Jenner seemed to be taking the beauty mishap in stride, experts warn dying your brows can come with some serious risks, especially if you’re taking a DIY approach to lightening them.

“If you’re considering trying bleached brows yourself, the most important tip is to proceed with caution and ideally visit a professional,” Annabelle Taurua, a beauty expert at Fresha, told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

“The skin around the brows is delicate and very close to the eyes, so using strong hair bleach or leaving products on too long can cause irritation or uneven colour,” she added.

Expert shares tips for bleaching your brows at home

If you do decide to do your brows at home, Taurua advises using a product specifically designed for facial hair. It’s also essential to perform a patch test beforehand and closely monitor the timing.

The darker your natural hair color, the slower the process. You may need multiple applications to get the color you want without also damaging your brows or ending up with a color you don’t like.

“If you have naturally dark brows, lifting them too quickly can cause the hairs to develop warm or orange tones instead of the soft, almost invisible finish often seen in fashion editorials,” Taurus explained.

Another risk? You might not be prepared for how having ultra-pale brows will change your appearance.

“Once brows are bleached, the face can look very different,” she explained. “Without darker brows anchoring the features, some people feel their complexion appears washed out.”

Tweaking your makeup routine could fix the problem, Taurus added.

“Adjusting your makeup, for example, by adding definition with eyeliner, mascara, blush or contour, helps restore balance and structure to the face,” she said.
