Lala Kent Shared How She Befriended Randall Emmett’s Ex-Wife After She ‘Wounded and Scarred’ Her

Lala Kent and Randall Emmett’s relationship began as an affair. Kent became involved with Emmett while he was still with his former wife, Ambyr Childers. While Childers was, unsurprisingly, not initially a fan of Kent, they now have a podcast together. Kent said that their toxic start somehow blossomed into a close friendship.

In late 2025, Kent and Childers launched a podcast called An Unlikely Affair. Their path to friendship was definitely unlikely, as Kent is the reason Childers’ marriage to Emmett ended.

“How this friendship came to be was like built from something very f***ing toxic,” Kent said on the podcast Boyfriend Material. “She was the wife, I was the mistress, she found a sex tape with me and her husband at the time. And that’s how everything was found out and how she decided to file for divorce.”

While they could hardly look at each other at one point, Kent said that Childers is now one of her closest friends.

“What we built off of that … [became] the most beautiful connection that I think I have in my life, besides with my children and my family,” she said. “[Ambyr is] that person for me.”

She finds it shocking that they have been able to make it to this place. She admitted she hurt Childers deeply.

“[What] what we [first] experienced, what I put [her] through a while back, you don’t come back from those things,” she said. “That leaves you very wounded and scarred and changes you as a person.”

Lala Kent and Randall Emmett are not on good terms 

While Kent is now in a good place with Childers, the same cannot be said about her ex. Kent and Emmett share a daughter, Ocean, whom they have to “parallel parent.” 

“It means that you are unable to co-parent,” she explained. “Co-parenting is kind of like two separate households, but you try to keep consistency in both. Parallel is basically, ‘What you do over there is on you, and what I do over here is on me.’ And there’s no crossover, because you just can’t … It’s high conflict.”

She said that she and Emmett can’t even have a conversation on the phone. They keep their communication to an app, but they still manage to get into disagreements.

“We don’t speak on the phone. It’s very short and sweet through an app. Well, not always sweet,” she said. “I don’t want to say [I] give in, but I so don’t want to communicate with him in any f***ing way, shape or form. [So] when he sends me messages, I’m just like, ‘Yeah, cool, sounds good.’ I’m desperate to not talk to you.”

The former couple broke up in 2021

In 2018, Kent and Emmett got engaged. Three years later, they announced that they were ending their relationship. She said that she ended things after learning about his infidelity.

“Randall was never ever home and he would always say that it was work-related. He was always on his phone. It was non-f***ing-stop on his phone and I still didn’t even register it,” she said during the Vanderpump Rules season 9 reunion. “Honest to God, it was when Katie [Maloney] called me on October 15th and said, ‘There’s two pictures that have come out with Randall and two girls.’ I just got the biggest pit in my stomach. I just knew Randall is not who I think he is.”

They reached a custody agreement over Ocean after a three-year battle.
