PK Kemsley Calls the ‘Puppygate’ Drama ‘so Unnecessary,’ Says He Wants to Reconcile With Lisa Vanderpump

PK Kemsley is hoping to move forward and have a friendly relationship with Lisa Vanderpump. Their relationship fell apart in 2019 amid The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ notorious Puppygate scandal. Now that his marriage to Dorit Kemsley is over, PK said he wants to rebuild his relationship with Vanderpump.

What was Puppygate?

During the ninth season of RHOBH, Dorit adopted a dog, Lucy Lucy Apple Juicy, from Vanderpump’s foundation, Vanderpump Dogs. Dorit eventually found the dog another home after she said she bit PK and their children. The new family ultimately returned Lucy to a shelter. 

Vanderpump Dogs was notified by the shelter, and Vanderpump expressed disappointment in Dorit. Still, she said she didn’t want to press the issue. Later, the issue turned on her when her castmates suspected she leaked the story to the press.

PK Kemsley said he wants to reconcile with Lisa Vanderpump

Years after their falling out, PK said he misses his friendship with Vanderpump. He believes that the fallout over Puppygate was unnecessary and hopes to see her soon.

“Yeah, I miss her. And I think that the fallout was so unnecessary, and I know she feels the same,” he said, per RealityTea, adding, “And I believe I’m going to see her fairly soon.”

Vanderpump has said that she feels the same way. While she doesn’t have interest in reconciling with Dorit, she wants to be on better terms with PK.

“There will always be room in my heart for PK; he was my friend,” she said in 2025. “So, yeah, I would enjoy reconnecting with him at some point.”

Lisa Vanderpump shared her thoughts on Dorit and PK Kemsley’s divorce

While Vanderpump was not on good terms with the Kemsleys when they divorced, she still said she felt for the couple when she heard the news that they had split.

“I feel for anybody that’s got young children,” she told E! News in 2024. “It’s not just the relationship, is it? It’s everything that’s displaced.”

She said she always feels bad when couples divorce, regardless of where she stands with them.

“It’s sad regardless of what I feel about them,” she said. “I always feel bad for the situation.”

Even though she wasn’t talking to them, she said she’d heard rumors that they were heading towards a divorce.

“We have some mutual friends,” she said. “I knew there had been some backwards and forwards and I’d heard rumors. I normally hear everything. That’s one of the good things and bad things about the restaurant business, you tend to hear a lot of what’s going on.”

She admitted that it’s hard for reality stars to stay married. PK himself has said that the show led to the end of his marriage.

“It’s hard to stay married, especially in this arena,” she said. “I think some people get carried away with their own self-importance and maybe their priorities change. We see a lot of people jumping into reality television and, some women, they’re emancipated suddenly because they have their own career, when maybe they didn’t before. So, in a way, there’s this kind of freedom.”
