‘Landman’ Season 2 Teaser Reveals More About Sam Elliott’s Mysterious Character
Paramount+ has dropped the official teaser for Landman Season 2, and it’s a doozy.
The first look at the new episodes of the hit Billy Bob Thornton show promise more intense action and drama as Monty’s widow Cami (Demi Moore) steps into his shoes as the new CEO of M-Tex.
“I called this luncheon to squash the rumors and offer you a warning,” she tells a room full of bank executives. “The only difference between me and my husband is I’m meaner.”
However, even though Cami holds the top job at oil company, it’s Thornton’s Tommy Norris who is the power behind the throne – at least according to him.
“She owns the company,” he tells someone. “But I run it.”
Sam Elliott joins ‘Landman’ in season 2
The one-minute clip also reveals the first look at a mysterious new character played by Sam Elliott. Up until now, details about who the gravelly-voiced actor and 1883 alum would be playing have been kept quiet. Now, we know that the man known only as T.L. is actually Tommy’s father.
“So just another day,” T.L. says in a phone conversation with Tommy.
“Just another day, Pop,” he replies.
Later in the teaser, we see the white-haired T.L. throw a punch at another man at livestock show, suggesting that Tommy’s learned his rough-and-tumble ways from his dad.
Billy Bob Thornton says working with Sam Elliott was ‘a joy’

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Thornton was tight-lipped about what role Elliott would play in season. But he said he was glad to have the chance to work with him again after they appeared together in both 1883 and Tombstone.
“I can only say this: I’ve known Sam longer than anybody in the cast,” he said. “Sam and I go back to somewhere in the mid-to-late-‘80s and we’ve done two things together before this and both of those things, it was only two scenes in each one. To be able to be around him longer on a more regular basis on the set, it’s just been a joy for me because I love that man. He’s been a mentor and a friend and just a hero of mine always.”
In addition to Thornton, Elliott, and Moore, Landman Season 2 features Andy Garcia as cartel boss Gallino, Ali Larter as Tommy’s ex-wife, Angela, Jacob Lolfland and Michelle Randolph as his kids, Cooper and Ainsley, and Kayla Wallace as big city lawyer Rebecca Falcone.
Landman Season 2 premieres Sunday, November 16 on Paramount+.
