In an Instagram post on what would have been Payne’s 32nd birthday, Cassidy remembered “the beautiful times” she and the singer shared together. Payne tragically died in October 2024 after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

“My dearest Liam, it breaks my heart being that I can’t hand you a physical birthday card today,” Cassidy wrote. “That I can’t hear your laugh, or tell you all the things I wish I’d said a thousand more times. I’ve been struggling to find the right words, but I’ll start with the most obvious, happy birthday.

“Today, you would have been 32,” she continued. “In your 31 years here on this earth you brought so much joy, happiness and hope to so many- especially to me. I hope you know how brightly you still shine, even from up there. I would give up years of my life just to give you a few more.”

The 26-year-old added that she missed “making memories” with Payne and “having things to look forward to together.” She said her birthday gift to him was her “strength.” The influencer also shared a slideshow of photos of her and Payne together during happier times.

“I promise you I will celebrate you extra today, honor your life, and cherish the beautiful times we’ve had,” she concluded. “August 29th will be a date that sits in my heart for the rest of my life. I love you so much.”

Liam Payne’s sisters share tributes to their brother 

Cassidy wasn’t alone among Payne’s loved ones in sharing memories of the late pop star. His sisters Ruth Gibbins and Nicola Payne both posted about their brother on Instagram.

Ruth recalled being “so happy” to celebrate Payne’s 31st birthday with the rest of their family, not knowing it would be the last time she saw her brother.

Nicola reminisced about their night of “bowling and McDonald’s” and their talk of Payne’s plans for his future. 

“If I had known that would be the last time I’d see you, I would have said so much more,” she wrote. “I wish I could step into a time machine and relive that night and hug you tighter … I hope you’re happy, at peace, and know just how deeply you are loved.”
