Three years ago, Justine and Michael said “I do” while he was still behind bars. He’s since been released, and they’ve been busy building their life together – and growing their family. As they settle into their routine as a family of 11, Justine is making plans for her and Michael to reaffirm their relationship in a second, more elaborate wedding.

“Justine and I got married while I was in prison,” Michael explains. Though it wasn’t a traditional wedding, Justine has told him “how special” the day way. But both feel like something was missing.

“I feel like, me being incarcerated, all I did was wait to be called, went down, had a ceremony, went back to my cell,” he says. That, on top of Justine’s high-risk pregnancy with their son, Milleon, has him feeling that he “owe[s] it to her” to give her the wedding of her dreams.

Justine wants to splurge on her wedding to Michael

But does Michael realize what he’s getting into by agreeing to wedding No. 2?

“If I’m going to do a wedding, then I’m going to do a big wedding,” Justine tells her husband.

“This is what confuses me,” he says. “[You say], ‘Oh, I’m content. I love our jail wedding.’”

“I did,” she replies. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want something more conventional than quick ceremony followed by a bouquet toss outside the prison.

Michael wants to know how much Justine thinks it will “realistically” cost to pull off her dream wedding

“I mean, $60,000?” she says. Michael is speechless. “I thought that was low-balling,” she adds.

Needless to say, Michael has some concerns.

“If we’re going to be doing this wedding, we’ve got to figure out how we’re going to save some money,” he says.

In an interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet ahead of the Life After Lockup season premiere, Justine doubled down on her belief that her projected wedding price tag was not out of line.

“I feel like if you’ve watched me in past seasons, me saying a $60,000 wedding, that’s true to Justine, that’s me,” she said. “I still don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, personally. Honestly, when I said [$60,000], I had to ask my mom. I was like, ‘Mom, I felt like I was coming in low.’ She’s like, ‘You are.’”

But Michael was still skeptical.

“Her mother and my father are not the ones to take advice from when it comes to money,” he said.

Life After Lockup premieres August 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on We TV. Episodes also stream on ALLBLK and AMC+.
