Lip Reader Decodes Beckham Family Conversation at 2023 Netflix Documentary Premiere
The Beckham family drama is in the spotlight at the start of 2026. Brooklyn Beckham took to his Instagram Stories in January to claim that his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, never approved of his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. Brooklyn Beckham just brought his family drama to the forefront on his Instagram Stories in January 2026, and the internet erupted into a frenzy over his claims. The 26-year-old claimed in a series of Instagram Stories that his parents have been trying to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham for years.
In light of the feud, investigative and forensic lip reader Nicola Hickling, on behalf of Covers.com, analyzed the Beckham family’s red carpet moment in London for their Netflix docuseries premiere in 2023. Most of the Beckham family arrived to support the series about David Beckham’s life. Attendees included David and Victoria Beckham, along with all four of their children: Brooklyn Beckham, Romeo Beckham, Cruz Beckham, and daughter Harper Seven Beckham. Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, also attended, and Romeo’s then-girlfriend, Mia Regan, was present as well.
According to Hickling, Brooklyn appears to speak quietly to his brother Romeo at the premiere. He looks like he says, “I hated it.” The lip reader noted that this likely refers to Brooklyn’s visible discomfort at having to pose with his parents for photos just moments beforehand. Or, he could be referencing a moment when Brooklyn reached out to David, and David looked as if he recoiled.
Brooklyn then adds, “She’s in tears.” Hickling says Brooklyn is likely referring to his wife, Nicola.
“Brooklyn’s eyes look so heavy, whilst trying to put on a facade of seeming to be OK,” Hickling notes. “Whatever happened before they arrived at the premiere, something went down.”

According to forensic lip reader Nicola Hickling, Victoria Beckham appears to have a tense exchange with Harper and Cruz Beckham. She turns her back to the cameras and walks to the photo wall, where she appears to say, “I need you to tell them, they can’t do that. If they do, it’s over for them.”
“Victoria is very tense when she sees Brooklyn and Nicola heading to the wall, she looks straight past them,” Hickling notes.
The lip reader also catches Victoria partially covering her mouth and saying to the assistant, “What a nightmare.” At the same time, she gestures toward Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham before turning back to greet the fans.
Others who are close to the family are now weighing in
The Beckham family drama continues to escalate following Brooklyn Beckham’s viral Instagram Stories. Celebrity hairstylist Justin Anderson once worked with Nicola Peltz Beckham and also took to his Instagram to share his experience with Brooklyn Beckham’s wife.
“I’ve worked with her,” he said on his Instagram Stories, according to Fox News. “Not nice. Not nice. I can say with my full chest, not good energy, bad news bears. And then, yeah, based on how many wedding planners she went through, I think she’s the issue.”
“I mean, Google her. Google her,” Anderson continued. “Go into Reddit, go into the dark corners of Reddit, and read a little bit about her. Not a good person. So, I perked up right when I saw that they were getting married.”
He went on to describe Nicola’s energy as “spooky” and said he feels bad for the Beckham family as they navigate this tumultuous period.
Victoria and David Beckham have yet to make public statements regarding their son’s Instagram posts.
