The British royal family celebrated King Charles‘ birthday with the annual Trooping the Colour on June 13. The event featured all the pomp and pageantry of years past and ended with a balcony appearance of the famous family.

Earlier in the day, King Charles and Queen Camilla rode through the streets of London in a carriage. During that procession, a professional lip reader noticed the king was preoccuied with something as he admitted that he was dreading what was going to happen in the coming days.

Here’s more on that and why another expert says it’s clear that Prince William is the head of the family now.

Nicola Hickling is a lip-reading expert and the founder of LipReader, a company specializing in lipreading and expert witness reports. Hickling has spearheaded the development of innovative technologies and services that empower individuals with hearing impairments. She has also appeared in the likes of the Daily Mail, Page Six, Newsweek, and more.

She analyzed what the king and Queen Camilla were saying to each other as they rode along in the carriage.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Hickling told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that she observed the monarch telling his wife, “Come on, Camilla, let’s wave.” He then complaind, “I’m in a right mess, (mumbles) it’s a mess.”

According to Hicking, the queen tries to calm him down, saying, “Oh, don’t worry,” before the king replies, “We shall wait and see them on Monday. It must be done.”

A body language expert also weighed in with what they saw from the royals that day and why it’s “clear” now that the Prince of Wales is the “center” of the family.

Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and TV as a consultant and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.”

Speaking on behalf of OLBG, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “If you look at the royal family on the balcony, there is symmetry, with Prince William in the center of the scene. He is seen with his hands at his front, he’s wearing his military uniform, his shoulders are up and back, and he’s standing almost to attention. He is clearly the figurehead and the head of the family.”

The expert added, “I think that William is being very well groomed to be king in a relatively short space of time. He appears to be the center of the family in the balcony scene, as well as overall. Prince William is definitely preparing to be king. It seems like he has done a lot of preparation, getting himself ready, in order to step up.

“They are now also bringing in Sophie and Edward more and more. Princess Anne has obviously always been very active, and she does quite a lot of events as well. But of course, you can see them all there together, standing on the balcony as a family.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
