An important time on the royal family‘s calendar is during Royal Ascot. Held annually in Ascot, England, it’s a world-famous, five-day horse racing event. Attendees can expect top-tier racing alongside elegant fashion and plenty of royal sightings.

Day One of Royal Ascot saw Queen Camilla (formerly Camilla Parker Bowles) and King Charles arrive by carriage along with Prince Faisal bin Salman Al Saud and one of Camilla’s closest and rarely seen confidants, Lady Sarah Keswick. But many fans noticed Camilla looking “panicked” in the carriage as she was speaking to her friend.

Now, a professional lip reader is sharing what the queen was saying during that carriage ride.

Lip-reading expert decodes what Queen Camilla was so ‘panicked’ about in the carriage

She has also appeared in the likes of the Daily Mail, Page Six, Newsweek, and more.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, the expert shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet what she observed Camilla saying to her friend.

According to Hickling, Camilla was having a battle with the wind and trying to keep her hat on, telling Lady Sarah: “Oh my goodness, if that wind blows any stronger my hat will blow away!” The queen tightened her grip again just in time, but later in the ride explains that she doesn’t think she’s able to wave to the spectators, saying, “A quick wave and back to my hat, should I let go? I can’t.”

As the carriage rounded the bend, both Camilla and King Charles reacted to a gust of wind with a collective “Oooh!”

Camilla donned some incredibly valuable accessories on opening day of Royal Ascot including one we’ve seen before on the late Queen Elizabeth II, and during Camilla and King Charles’ coronation in May 2023.

The diamond experts at U.K. retailer Steven Stone noted that she wore a diamond from her coronation crown.

Maxwell Stone told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “The Cullinan V is a beautiful heart-shaped diamond that weighs 18.8 carats. It was set in platinum by Garrard in 1911 and Queen Mary wore it on her crown for the 1911 coronation. Most of the time, the Cullinan V diamond was featured in a brooch setting, which was passed down to Queen Elizabeth II, who wore it frequently over the decades.

“Queen Camilla’s choice to wear the diamond in a brooch setting at Royal Ascot was an incredibly sentimental one. Not only does it have a sweet connection to the late monarch, but it was also one of the diamonds that she had incorporated into her crown for King Charles’ Coronation in May 2023 — during which, it sat in the front cross patee of her crown. Her Majesty previously wore it last Summer, at the first garden party of 2024. The Cullinan V is a truly remarkable piece, laced with history. Thus, I’d estimate it to be worth $2.5 million.”
